TM's aside, Nintendo released the official name for the next generation Nintendo games console: Wii (as in "we").

"Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything."

I've got to agree with Crooky.

The console war is over, and Nintendo lost.

Sony (Playstation) and Microsoft (XBOX) have proven to be the winners, for serious gamers.

Nintendo is still strong in the handheld market (Gameboy) and that should be their focus.

Look at SEGA... they learned their lesson, and finally quit making hardware, and concentrated on what they do best - making GREAT games.

I actually think the hyphenated version is "better" SEO-wise.. for resale, most prefer the non-hyphenated versions. I own quite a few hyphenated domains and will often choose those over the non-hyphenated version.

wii TLD or CCltd?

wow quite a wii rush (!) on yesterday - all the good .com names snapped up quickly

when this happens do we think it is better to get the best names in a 'lesser' extension e.g wiigame.net, wiinews.info, wii.ro wiiconsole.eu etc

or go for the wiicheatcodeshere.com variety?

or just accept you weren't quick enough and missed out

Regarding the .EU extension i wouldn''t considder this a lesser extension.

I noticed today Nintendo Europe registered wiinews.eu and wiionline.eu so it's nice to see of course that .EU domains are important enough for them to secure.
