I just got significant traffic (high xxx each) and significant income (high xx all) on 3 .biz domains at Sedo for the month of Feb.. The interesting thing was I haven't had them parked at Sedo for just under a year. Even more interesting they were all domains I recently dropped because they weren't making any money where they were parked. Now how do you think that could happen? The domains are cheong, caminos, impure. I of course just re-regged them and pointed them at Sedo :)

#2
SnapNames regged a domain I wanted minutes only before I went to register it. I did a whois search. It was available. I logged into my registrar and tried to register it. It was gone. I did a whois search it was registered to snapnames and appeared as a $19 auction. I was going to buy it, but I had a day long brownout the day the auction ended. So I missed it. I did a whois to see who had bought it. It was dropped after the 5 day auction/tasting by SnapNames and picked up by one of eNom's surrogate tasters. 5 days later it was dropped again, and I have now regged it. dxlifestyle[.]com :)

Interesting huh?

Its fun to throw those on your daily scans and end up grabbing them many days later when you are not even expecting it. As for the biz domains generating that rev, weird, do large tasters promote a bit as well???

I don't believe on doing s whois lookup every day. I do it every 5-6 days

Aren't you mixing up the 2 stories, Gary?

I always use iWhois.com for my whois lookups. It was one of SnapNames registrars.

The same situation occured with me when I was lookign for 3-4 domains and all of them were snapped by Snap. I was going through the process of registration and the check out screen showed the names weren't available.

It was really disappointing.

Did the domains sell at auction or were they dropped?

Only few sold. They were in the low - mid xxx range.

Yes it dropeed, but it wasn't worth a lot after much thought, so discarded it.

Thinking like a taster... eh? :)

you know at netsol, when you whois, it will reg for you for 5 days. Can the same thing happen at snapnames?

You mean searching for a domain at snapnames auction? I never thought of that, and don't know the answer.

I wasn't totally surprised that they regged the domain seconds before me. I'm sure it was a coincidence. There was nothing I did other than an iWhois lookup and immediately try to register the domain, in the length of time it took me to login and complete the order. But something triggered them to make the registration, and then try to auction it, and then dropped it after five days. Nice business, if the domain sells.

Always. If it's crappy domains, it'll get kicked out. :)

Anybody got any comment about #1? I'm still making good money on those three .biz domains. Maybe I'd still be making the same money without registering them ;)

Could be that Sedo have just temp increased your rev hoping that they can drop it quietly after a while.

The point of #1 was that I was receiving revenue on domains which were available for registration. I'm now in 2 minds as to whether I'd continue to receive that revenue, or not, even if I hadn't bothered to re-reg them.

This has happened to me, too. The registrar of the domains didn't happen to be Go/Daddy, did it?
