I just got significant traffic (high xxx each) and significant income (high xx all) on 3 .biz domains at Sedo for the month of Feb.. The interesting thing was I haven't had them parked at Sedo for just under a year. Even more interesting they were all domains I recently dropped because they weren't making any money where they were parked. Now how do you think that could happen? The domains are cheong, caminos, impure. I of course just re-regged them and pointed them at Sedo :)

#2
SnapNames regged a domain I wanted minutes only before I went to register it. I did a whois search. It was available. I logged into my registrar and tried to register it. It was gone. I did a whois search it was registered to snapnames and appeared as a $19 auction. I was going to buy it, but I had a day long brownout the day the auction ended. So I missed it. I did a whois to see who had bought it. It was dropped after the 5 day auction/tasting by SnapNames and picked up by one of eNom's surrogate tasters. 5 days later it was dropped again, and I have now regged it. dxlifestyle[.]com :)

Interesting huh?

Yep. They were regged at GoDaddy, but they'd been parked at Parked for nearly a year before I dropped them. What is the significance of GoDaddy.

The point of #1 was that I was receiving revenue on domains which were available for registration. I'm now in 2 minds as to whether I'd continue to receive that revenue, or not, even if I hadn't bothered to re-reg them.

What I'd do is taste the same domain names at Dynadot for a few weeks/months and see if the revenue keeps on flowing.

Just a tip.

That's exactly what I did :) As soon as I realized these three domains were making money in my account at Sedo even though I'd dropped them, I re-regged them. They're still continuing to make money. Of course I can't help but wonder if I'd still be making that money if I hadn't re-regged them. But at least I secured the revenue stream. However long it lasts. They paid for themselves, even before I re-regged them. Everything else I get is just bunce :) They were having zero traffic and revenue where the were previously parked. So no idea where this traffic stream/revenue is coming from... and don't actually care :)

But what amazes me is they are .biz names. .Biz are never known for organic traffic IMO.

Maybe bot clicks ?

.biz names yep. And not very good either. It could be bot traffic. Because I had no traffic and revenue when they were at Parked (which is why I dropped them). Which might imply Sedo are not so good at identifying the bots.

But I still cannot fathom why they got traffic/revenue when they were dropped and hadn't been pointing at Sedo for about a year.

They will someday, if they verify the source of traffic before sending payments.

Yep. They were regged at GoDaddy, but they'd been parked at Parked for nearly a year before I dropped them. What is the significance of GoDaddy.

Several months back, GD sales reps were calling me all the time about domains that were expiring soon. I explained that they were mostly worthless domains..and would they please stop calling me about them.

Much to my surprise, the week before expiring, several of the expiring domains got quite a few visits and clicks...enough that I (stupidly) renewed most of them. After renewing them, the visits and clicks stopped.

It could have been a coincidence that people were monitoring these domains and checking on them while waiting for them to expire (though not sure why they would click parking links). Or it may have been something or someone else making the traffic appear at that renewal time for whatever reason...no way to prove anything either way (I didn't have Analytics on the domains).

Though not as much as the example above, I still get visits and clicks on domains right before they expire...and now in the 10-12 day grace period after the expiry date, but when they can be renewed normally (and when they default to a GD parking page).

These visits and clicks preceeding expiration don't seem to happen at some other registrars I use. Probably just a strange coincidence....

Maybe. However, these domains were available for registration and resolving to Sedo. How could that happen? They paid for themselves even before I re-regged them. They were still making money every day, but it now looks like that revenue has just dried up over the past week.

Hmm, it sure is bot traffic. Sedo might have caught up on that.

For an investment of $24. I made over $100. I probably could have made that with no investment :(
