If .xyz, then why not .abc?

If the morons at ICANN can come up with junk extensions like .xyz, then why not introduce the slightly less junk extension of .abc?

Just wondering while I'm having my second coffee...

Well, that explains why I couldn't find the extension on registrar sites or even a wikipedia page.

I wonder how long ABC will hold onto this?

Now let's be revolutionary and launch the .123 extension

Which would be the most valuable numeric tld?

Numeric gTLDs are not permitted under ICANN rules. Not even partially numeric. Letters only, with the exception of the hyphens in Punycode IDNs.

We can be sure, that the forever money grabbing ICANN, will introduce numbered extensions at some point.
If they can introduce junk/nonsense extensions, they can do so with numbered extensions.

We can be sure, that the forever-starving ICANN, will introduce numbered extensions at some point.
If they can introduce junk/nonsense extensions, they can do so with numbered extensions.
The numerical tlds would be especially popular with the gambling sector

It seems unlikely. The potential for confusion with IP addresses is too great.
