I was doing some research on mobile URL addresses. They run the gambit:
http://mobile.yahoo.com/resource_center/wapdir/News/
see for yourself... (No standard for people to be assured of)
I have a sneeking suspicion that by next June this directory will have nothing but .mobi in it. The reason: Competitive advantage. IN business that is something you want to have.
There have been many new TLD's come out since April of 2000, but none that were created for a purpose. My favorite is still .pro, but even then, it's just another "pretty" face. I like .TV, but type-ins are few and far in between.
My feeling is that it won't take long for type-ins to occur with .mobi once a stable group of .mobi sites are out there for viewing. Again, I'd make sure your .mobi sites DO something. I wouldn't waste this opportunity on "parking pages". To me that is laughable because .mobile users could give a sh&t less about more crap to click on...unlike the PC savvy users who have more time and bandwidth.
My advice would be to develop, but feel free to sit and wait with your parked .mobi pages.
