It is commonly known that the vast majority of retailers are engaged in the sale of several types of mutually different, but somewhat related products. This also applies to service providers.

In most situations, the keyword(s) within a domain name is only a part of the product range (service).

The question is whether the domain that contains only one (or part of) the product(s) will be interesting to the owner of such a site (business).

Examples for products:

-Jewelry sale (industry) – rings (or: necklaces, bracelets, necklaces…) (within domain name)

-Footwear – shoes (sneakers, boots, sandals…)

-Cars – sedans, SUVs, luxurious cars…) etc.

Example for services:

-HVAC (industry) – Air conditioning… (within domain name)

-Plumbing – Water heater repair…

-Home decorating – Living room decorating… etc.

The assumption is that subproducts (subservices) are already located on the second, third ... pages of the end user’s website.

I propose that experienced forum members to share their own experiences regarding the sale of this type of domain names, or to suggest whether they are worth of buying at all.

Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
My expectation is that companies would generally only be interested in buying a domain name which covers part of their product range if that is a particular speciality for them. However I haven't tried selling these types of names so there could be exceptions to that.
With that said, GoldNecklaces.com (for instance) would still be a very valuable domain, and possibly even just as valuable as GoldJewelry.com, since a company specialising in necklaces won't have as much use for a general jewelry domain. Just my thoughts...

Yeah it depends entirely on the keyword/product. If the niche is big enough then they can work but generally I like them to be as broad as possible.
