Say my friend has a mobi site, www.elizabeth2.mobi hosted in UK. I am in NY and I am writing «www.elizabeth2.mobi» on my cell phone.
QUESTION :
Since the server is very very far, do you think I will have difficulty seeing the website on my cell ?

All things remaining equal I would be surprised if it added .5 second to the load time. I have MSM chats with people all over the world and the lag time is rarely noticeable. Now if the server was on the moon...

You may be OK at the moment, but the Royal Navy is currently building a Firewall around the UK to keep out those nasty Iranian TV broadcasts, and foreigners implying that Tony Blair or the Navy had anything to do with selling stories to the newspapers.

Aside from the odd satire above, the answer is no, not really.

Most cells go through their provider's proxy server. So long as the host is a good host, there should be no problems!

The server could be in Timbuktu, as long as the server is available the location is irrelevant.

Well, the bandwidth to the backbone does matter. US and UK are probably great connections but I'm not too sure about Timbuktu. But after some research it turns out they've got several satellite uplinks in that remote desert town. Who knew. They may get better internet service than some small towns in California that rely on copper wires from AT&T (formerly SBC(formerly Pacific Bell(formerly AT&T))).
