.mobi DotComs.mobi is up and running. Check domain name availability on the go.

For years I wished there was a simple way to check domain name availability from my cell phone. DotComs.mobi is still a work in progress, but it is live and you can currently check the availability and whois for the ".com .net .org .mobi .info .us .biz .tv" extensions in a matter of seconds. When you type in dotcoms.mobi it currently forwards to a temp server but that will change in the future because I am having a problem with my current server connecting to the whois servers.

I also hope to add registrations in the near future as well as more extensions, but now when your out and about; you can check to see if that .mobi that just popped into your head is available.

Only thing is when I checked your site with emulator at mtld, it does show-up, but when I click "check" button, it does not show the results, it does work on PC though.

The treos have true browsers, so even site like domaintools.com and NamePros.com work.

Yea, Im going to hold on to this one for a while, this site is more for me than anything else. I figured why sell it when I can develope it into somethig I can really use. I wanted to be able to check domain name availability quickly on my cell phone, so I had to create it. I also figured that others (on this site particularly) may find this to be a good tool as well. I will go ahead and add it to dir and boing now that its running smooth.

I hope others find it useful as well.

the only comment (or question) is that when i click on the "viewwhois" link, it only provides the abbreviated contact info (without registrant details)?

did you code the backend as well or did you farm it out?

sf2010 thanks, I was debating whether to have the whois link at all, but then decided it couldn't hurt. I had someone do the backend coding for me. I didn't even realize the whois was abbreviated.
