Yesterday, I was trying to login to my account at idotz.net and it showed me that my account was locked. Then I zipped an email to the support and recieved this message today.


5) Information Updating and Accuracy Obligations. As a condition to continued registration of your domain, you must keep the Registration Information current, complete and accurate. You may access your Registration Information in iDotz.Net's possession to review, modify or update such Registration Information, by accessing iDotz.Net's domain manager service, or similar service, made available at our Web site. In accordance with ICANN policies, you acknowledge and agree that if you willfully provide inaccurate information or fail to update your Registration Information promptly will constitute a material breach of this Agreement and may result in the cancellation of your domain registration. You further agree that immediately upon discovering any willful inaccuracy (including i.e. phone number of 555-1212, 000-0000, contact of N/A, -- or address of N/A, --) iDotz.Net will lockdown any account, web site hosting, domain registration, email boxes or other applicable services for!
a period of no less than 24 hours. The registrant or customer will be required to respond by fax to iDotz.Net stating that they will immediately update and keep the Registration Information current, complete and accurate. iDotz.Net will require a Non-refundable Reactivation Fee, currently set at US $25.00 per transaction, to be paid BEFORE the account, domains and/or services are reactivated. Any further willful inaccuracy associated with your domain registration or account this shall constitute a material breach of this Agreement and will be sufficient basis for cancellation of your domain registration and your Domain Manager Account. Provision of false WHOIS information IS grounds for cancellation of the domain name registration and the Domain Manager Account with no refund of registration fee(s).

Wow! who the heck do they think they are? I think this is grounds for serious legal action. I would move ALL my domains from there immedaitely.

How would you do it , if your account is locked?

I think maybe sending a complaint to ICANN might solve the problem.

I've seen it happened before from a different registrar due to inaccuracy of owners contact info. Since that is the agreement that will be binding.

If all your informations are accurate my suggestion is to call the customer service. I have some domains reg. with Idotz and they seem to be helpful but the waiting time to get through takes about 15 min to 30 min.

The fee is gratuitious and the fax is just an exercise of power. When 8-X 1and1.com 8-X locked me out, I made it my mission to expose their anti-consumer practices and effect them at the bottom line.

I only use their free software to look up names that I register at reputable registrars.

Make it your mission and be sure that they know it is your mission. Sorry you've been abused by what seems to be a revenue generating policy masked as a public concern issue. Shame on them.

A fact lost on many people. It's a shame some people find it very conveniently
easier to outright label as scam something they nonetheless agree to.

Xman here give sound "advice". I suggest you heed it if you do want to regain
access and control over those domain names, unless you find ranting a whole
lot more fulfilling and important over losing them.

Now if you truly believe they're abusing this, then you'd better be ready to be
able to prove your claims. You're not going to go unchallenged.

I sent them an email on what I should do to bring my account back to normal and haven't heard from them.

I think it would be best if you called them because you will get a quick response. You can always give them reason why your info. was inaccurate (if that's the case). They are really helpful. You should do it as soon as possible before its too late. Keep us updated.

How many names do you have with them? I am wondering if they charge you $25 for each domain? That can get costly if you made a mistake with your phone number or postal code. Good luck and I hope you get your account in order.

I think you only have yourself to blame for the circumstances you find yourself in. You should ALWAYS keep your whois data updated and accurate.
