I Was Wrong, I Admit It...

Awhile back I mentioned having a strange mark on the side of my face that I later assumed was from my eye glass frames... well, I was wrong...

I went to the doctor's today for my cold and prescriptions.. and the first thing he mentioned was a different mark (that I didn't know about) on the other side of my face AND that one.. turns out they were both pre-cancerous lesions and he removed them both there at the office.

Other than this horrendous cold, hopefully so. Cancer runs on both sides of my immediate family so it bears watching. The doc thinks they caught it in time but there was no hesitation in removing it.

Just mentioning it to you all so you don't do as I did and wait too long

ouch! good luck wish you all the best and hope it wasn't painfull....skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer but luckily one of the less lethal

Did it with a Nitrogen spray.. felt like a cigarette burn.

Hope everything is ok with you dgridley. I wish that Cancer can be cured, I hope that more and more money will be invested in this research. I really hate when I hear that someone has cancer, or dies because of Cancer.

It's always a good thing when they catch it early. I know exactly how it feels to have cancer running down both sides of your family. I haven't experienced anything myself because of my age of course, but it has come close in my family.

Most cancers are not heredatory. But cancer itself is very common (so many different types tho).

Glad you are ok, as you say just goes to show left longer and it could have been quite serious. Many people do not bother going to the doctors when they have a lump or mark on them because they feel they are inconveniencing the doctor. That is what they are there for.

wait, your saying u had 2 lumps on each side of your face that may contain cancer? Cause when i was born i have 2 lumps on each side of my neck and the doctor said if they get any bigger i have cancer... greatfully they didnt

Well what happened actually was I had to go in for my cold and to refill a prescription, I mentioned the one spot I was wondering about to the assistant and when the doctor came in he noticed a suspicious spot on the other side of my face that I hadn't know about.. both spots were pre-cancerous.

The whole point of the post is to do a heads up for people and make them aware so they get things like this checked out in time.

There actually wasn't anything all that suspicious about the way the spot "looked" to me, but I knew it had formed as a result of a sun blister this past summer so wanted to have him take a look at it.

I'm glad you qualified that statement with "most" as many people can be genetically pre-disposed to certain forms of cancer, meaning family members, etc. may also have the same pre-disposition.

My dad, grandfather, aunts, uncles, and a few others have all died from cancer (and not just from one side of the family) so it pays to be vigilant.

I'm pretty sure the lesion on my left temple is coming back.. gonna go back in Monday or Tuesday and have it checked out.. the old spot is itching again and there's a bump forming under the skin. Better safe than sorry.
