.info I thought I found GOLD.info ...

Has this ever happened to you?

Found it available (big smile on my face), bought it and waited for it to show up in my account ,but then in an email this happened:

The following domain name has failed to be registered:

GOLD.INFO

Error: GOLD.INFO: already exists in Info database

We will evaluate this error and retry the registration if appropriate.

If we are unable to successfully register the domain name, your account will be credited accordingly. Please allow one business day for the refund to be processed.

The reply I got from GoDaddy was merely sometimes this happens for "various reasons". Any ideas why the database would show it as available when it was clearly not? (of course when I found it - I didn't check the whois I just ASS U ME d (Benny Hill ref) it was available). tisk tisk on me.

If you always use GoDaddy, you'll get this a lot.
They need someone to fix their domain lookup.

LoL - You definetly arent the first to get that email... Make sure you use a live registrar when checking domain names.

hahaah Happend to me when i tried to reg "speedtrap.com" I was shaking that I got it...then got a refund

Happened to me with their wildwest reseller and refund took months. I also taught that I hit the jackpot. It's been a defect in their system and to their resellers a long time already and it seems it's there's no solution until now. Domainsite.com also has such terrible errors.

BTW that GD incident of mine happened in 2003.

It happened to me too at GoDaddy but never happen at Moniker. I think Moniker is pretty acurate.

Also this happened to me different way:
an available names at elsewhere is NOT available at gd.
