I take it that .DE domains are dead & worthless?? I am curious what makes them useless, and why they seem to be hard to transfer to somebody. Any info is apppreciated

How can the ccTLD for Germany be useless?

Seems like none are getting registered, and some places like Godaddy can't transfer them over

You first state your opinion that they are "dead and worthless".

Then you go on to ask what makes them "useless", as though it's a fact.

So since it's your opinion that you have taken as a fact, i.e. the extension being "useless", perhaps it's something you should be asking yourself.

Who, other than yourself, has said it's useless?
If someone here has said that, then perhaps they are useless, because such a statement is absolutely rubbish.

Germans use .de in their location. There's a purpose for it.

If I reg one here in the US, and then want to transfer it to somebody in the US or anyplace else in the world, how hard will that be??

Seems like you don't know what you're talking about.

Searching this site, I see posts from people that had difficult times with .de
Sorry if I am mistaken, but there are some pretty good domains out there unregged and have been out there for months, so my question would be, WHY?
Can a person in the US reg a .de domain?

.DE is still the strongest cctld when it comes to weekly sales

I have transferred quite a few .DE names from different registrars without any issues

Are you aware that Germans have their own language? Or are you wondering why SanFranciscoLawyer.de isn't registered? Because this would be self explanatory wouldn't it?

Sure, that makes sense, that German people may not be interested in SanFranciscoLawyer.de, but as one example, fitfoods.de sold for $2700, so English phrases or words, can also sell

they can only sell if they have value as a brand suitable for german speaking people.

You have to live in Germany to understand what English terms are good brandables and which are not. Just using English words/phrases for .de isn't a good idea.

Certainly the highest prices, followed closely by .fr and .co.uk

.de > co.uk

That's the german ccTLD and the most valuable ccTLD today. How do you assume it to be "dead"?
Apps.de recently sold for about $650,000+

Check out other "de" sale prices here: http://dnpric.es/?q=.de
