I started domaining because i caught with an old friend who told me he was working at a registrar where people reg website address's ???

He explained that some people reg a 'typo' and make money off it , he also said that after the 'tech bust' of 2000 that the internet would make a comeback .... big time and that kids were growing up with it and it was here to stay

I didn't think much of the registering of 'typos' idea and i really got the bug after discovering sedo and seeing that there was a market for this type of investment , and then discovering namepros was the icing on the cake

I started in 1996 by registering a domain for my business which was retailing video games and other multimedia goods....Multimedia1.com. For years I sold games on the site. I ended up starting a small web development company to try and gain some of that bubbling dotcom wealth but just didn't get the payouts others had. After 9/11 I had problems in NYC with my retail store and other things so I eventually sold the store, moved to Vegas and became a full time domainer and web developer which is how I earn 100% of my income since 2005.

I wish I had regged more domains in the 90's of course...I just didn't see a use for damage.com and other domain names. Back then domains were products like toys.com, pets.com, and such. I had an amazing typo I grabbed for traffic in 2000 and redirected the traffic to my game store. Since it wasn't related traffic and I eventually couldn't find a use I dropped it a few years later. Huge mistake. I am sure it earns at least $100 a month now. Thesmokingun.com was the domain. I never made a dime on it either. This was before I was aware of parking.

I remember in 1993 Income Opportunities mag had a front page layout on the dot com revolution.However I left if behind when I and my Ex wife were getting ready for wedding plans. :p

If i stayed with it I would have been up there with the other multi millionaires :bah:

Hehehe, sounds familiar.....In 1996 i get an idea.....to reg DVD.com ,ADS.com and CM3.com (Championship maganer, game). My thoughts was that DVDs will become very popular so that i will be able to sell web space for ads if i build a site on DVD.com. Something similar i wanted with ADS.com. And CM3.com i planned to use for gamesite. But as i am not web developer, i didnt go till the end with that, because in that time i had under 18, no my own money, and i would have expenses if i started all that. So i thought that can wait. But someone else didnt think that can wait And domaining comes to my mind few times in a year, but never reg a name. And my first reg was in Jan 2006
I wouldnt be angry on myself if i didnt have such a great ideas, and probably i will discover some other great and AVAILABLE doimains in that time, maybe reg 100-200 of them and now have few millions $ just from domaining. But i didnt know how to come to my parrents and ask them money for some letters on the Internet, hehe. But i should.

And also, i dont see myself as someone who will get up every morning and be in hurry to work. I hate that (i am at work now, haha). So i am always dealing with everything what can you bring big money in short time (legal way, hehe). Domaining can, it could be enough just one bingo domain! So dont give up even if you havent made in 10 years any $1k+ sale, you still can with one domain earn $100k+, if you will have nice domain and be very very lucky :D
And my first sale had ROI 8, in just a 15-20 days, so that convinced me that i will stay in domaining. At stock market in the best years ROI 8 would be extra ordinary!
