I signed up a domain to dedicate it to my friend who passed away and I made a typo! :'( It sucks big time. Anybody know of anyone / any way I can get it fixed? It would help big time!

Hahah, that is funny Adam! Sorry, but I think there is no fixing available because the registration should have already went through!

Most of the time, if the order has been paid for, then there's no way to get it recalled.

The only scenario this would be possible is if the place you ordered your domain handles orders manually. Then a quick email (or a phone call) to the company might fix it.

I'd contact the registrar and see if they can help, if you just just regged it they might be willing to assist you especially if its an obvious typo, cant hurt to try...

This is something I've noticed and learned from a lot of people: although registrars normally don't refund, they could actually make exceptions if the person notifies them about it within 5-7 days.

Contact your registrar and try it out.

I regged a typo few years ago with register.com, and I emailed them AS SOON AS I WENT THROUGH THE REGISTRATION METHOD(I found I made a mistake at once), told them I typed too quickly that made a mistake, and they corrected that typo for me. I don't know if is it still the case for now.
Good luck, I think it is worth a try.

I guess I will try that.

Thanks SY4!! But I got it from a friend and I'm the one who made the typo :(

I just emailed them.. here's what I put. Tell me if you think they will do it...

Hello there,

Just yesterday (November 20th, 2003) I registered a domain with you. It is www.michealhuff.com. This domain was intended to be a dedication to a friend who I lost. But when I registered it I made a typo. It should have been "MichaelHuff.com" instead of "MichealHuff.com". If you could possibly fix this for me it would make me and all of my friends extremely happy to see the typo fixed. I hope you can make it happen :)

- Adam

Depends on the registrar. The registry does allow registrars to delete registrations at no charge within a few days of registration. Very few registrars however let their customers take advantage of this.

Where did you register at?

Some registrars have "DELETE" option for first few days.
For example, at OnlineNIC you can delete the domain name
within 3 days after typo registration, and they return to you regfee - 3$ (7,5-3=4,5$) which is more than half.
I see now that it is very usefull feature :D

Hopefully, maybe your registrar has something like that ...
But, i dont think you'll bankcrupt either way :D

Made a typo on 2 about 11/2 yrs ago and GoDaddy wouldn't budge or answer email.

Most registrars dont allow it. They specifically state that its nonrefundable if there is a typo so you cant blame them if they dont.

I agree. In my case, (and not necessarily that of others), I was clumsy and had to shell out for the "learning" experience. BTW, my names were unavailable w/ correct spelling. Man, i thought i had scored!

There is a registrar (just forgot the name) that allows deletion of typos domains. Just do some asking. Or i might post it here again if i'll remember the name.

I think it was mentioned earlier

Unless you are thinking of another.

Yes, OnlineNic has this wonderful 3-day delete period. Reg Fee will be refunded, minus $3 as "delete charge".

I hope your registrar has the same feature also.
