6 years ago this month I had not long left college with a certificate in electrical engineering. Because of my old age (33) no company would take me on as a trainee as I would cost a lot more to employ that an 18 y/o.
This was when I looked online for ways to make little extra cash on the side.... Write a blog (no thanks), sell crap on ebay (nope), oh this looks interesting "Buy and sell domain names" so I did, well more buying than selling. 6 years on I have still spent more than I have made but, that's not the point here.
The point of my story is this. A couple weeks after buying BS and wasting a load of $$$ it was then I discovered namePros and I was able to learn from my mistakes by reading a ton of great articles and blog posts (I've even written a couple myself since then). The one thing that kept on grabbing my attention was this talk of landing pages - so I dug a little further. How do you create a landing page? I asked Google. Anyway, several hours later I had created my first Wordpress site - did I sell anything... No. But I had this urge to learn more about building websites.
2 years after joining nP I went back to college to study Web Development (at 35 years old) I now have a Bachelors degree and just under 2 years commercial experience as a developer.
I done this as I still dream of working for myself and steps have been made. I wanted to start building something that can generate income and not have to rely on several customers per year that need websites designed. So I started to think what can I do? I know the domain industry pretty well! Can't replicate efty that would be pointless. How about another auction site? Hmmm... How about an auction site that's subscription based and won't charge fee's every time you want to list a name (like flippa) Ok I'm going for it.
Last May I started building KingdomNames.com while working full time. It's still not fully completed, there's no doubt about that but, everything is there for investors to sign up, add domains to your account and start an auction. Best thing for you guys is that as it's still not fully complete so I'm not taking any money at this time. Not until I see it working properly and get user feedback.
Like I said "I owe it all to namePros" If I hadn't found nP I would not be sitting here right now writing this post. Kingdom Names is my way of giving back to an industry that has given me so much over the years. I know it's going to be difficult launching an auction site but, I have to give it a go and get something out there that is fairer for us investors and our potential buyers.
