From the whois records I have seen, they were all taken by 2000. The big dump happened post the .com bubble bust in 2002 when they were selling for low xxx

Crazy to see how much they have gone up in value in just a few years. Sure wish I had bought some back in the day.

Seven years from now I think people will be saying the same thing about domains that are available now.

The only real question is: Which domains???

My personal opinion and I must state that I own over 100 of them but I am betting LLL.in Could be wrong but I figure its a good speculative market to be in. It seems to me that premium one word and LLL are always the first to be bought out in most markets. We shall see if this holds true for the .in market.

i totally agree... few words and you wrote everything was necessary :)
in seven years people will say the same for names that arent available or that will have their buyout soon (LLLL.com/net, LLL.in/net, L-L-L.com, LLLL.com.cn, LLLL.cn)

i stated here 7 niches of small names... people that have names in all the extensions dont have to worry because some of them, or even, all f them (i hope) will have a good value... dot com is king, no doubt about it and LLL are short ones (short names are really really great), so with the growth of internet all of them can have success

Hello All,

I can recall the days in early 2001, when I really got my start in LLL.com domaining, when LLL.com domains were fairly easy to buy at about $225 each. I even remember a large sale that one now-more-famous domainer had back then where he was selling them for $199 each in bulk.

Those days are certainly long behind us, and the run since then has been quite good to those who hold LLL.com domains, and even the ones who continually buy then sell them (quick flippers). I can't really think of too many types of investments that have yielded the kind of return this category of domains has offered over the last 6-7 years.

I've seen some speculation that LLL.com domains are "too expensive now," with the implied statement that they may not grow at the same rate in the future. My research and charting data seems to speak completely otherwise. The charts look healthier now than they have at most any other time in the last 6 years for LLL.com price growth. Further, an LLL.com at $6k or so may seem expensive depending on your perspective, but to my perspective that seems quite cheap in consideration of the power LLL.com's have for end-user sales, brandability, raw traffic & income and global appeal (use in most any language, including developing internet marketplaces around the world). I believe the days are quickly coming when $xx,xxx will be the minimum cost for any LLL.com.

I've recently noticed a small group of sharp domainers (most of whom are regulars on this board and DNF and Domainstate) who are the ones quietly buying up most of the currently for sale supply of LLL.com domains between $6k to $8k in cost right now. I have a feeling they also see the same growth potential as my research points toward.

Time will tell, I suppose...

Neat Thread Gemstar,

I couldnt agree more. I would guess by mid 2008 - expect 10k to be either the min or close to the min sales figure for these type of domains. I expect to hold mine through the end of 08 atleast.

yes indeed, well IMHO it will be LLLL.com, not such stratospheric figures as LLL but a healthy growth nonetheless....professional domainers are already laying down portfolios for future growth.....as the figures are already demonstrating....

So true. Every day I ask myself that same question.
