I have to Choose Between the Two

If you had the choice between owning:

For Example : 2createawebsite.com or how-to-create-a-website.com

For the purposes of actually building your own site, which would you choose. I am in a similar scenario. The second is longer with hyphens but EMD (which still poses a slight edge SEO wise).

the first is shorter, no hyphens, partial keywords but has a number in it.


Which is is better in your opinion...please avoid commenting with neither or an alternative.

I have a choice between two similar names to reg for a affiliate site im gonna make. low competetion.

to all that hate hyphenated domain, I still see them ranking high so yeah

I'm not an expert; but I think the number will be the best alternative of the two for a worldwide market. As far as I know, hyphens are more acceptable in parts of Europe, particularly Germany.
I've never registered a name with hyphens myself.
I did register a short domain name with the number 2 in the middle which sold to a major communication company.
I know you are going to develop rather than sell; but you still need a name which is easy to remember and type in to get the traffic you want.

As an afterthought, I guess that these names are not high value; so why not develop your favourite choice name, and direct the other one to it. So buy them both if you haven't already.
