Ok, so you all know that I have this auction running. I get an email this morning in regards to the domain name. I had a woman from a very reputable organization give me an offer of $12,000 for the name I just sent to auction. I talked to her on the phone.

I told her about the auction. She wants me to end it and sell to her within 72 hrs.

She was going to fax me over the offer in the morning. I thought the same thing you did, Corey.

but you already started the auction?
would it be so kind of her to enter into auction with the others?
anyways she'll beat their prices.

Right, but she wants it within 72 hours.

in your auction she can bid right away her offer price. pardon me but sounds like "too good to be true" for me.

I feel the same way, but we'll see what she does tomorrow, but am I more concerned on whether I can end an auction like that?

how's the auction going on? what's the last bid? compare it with her offer. it would be better to get real sales rather than bloated sales like this, if she can't offer it up her price on your auction, my concern is you lose all the auction opportunities to sell and then her offer is fake, but then it rests on your own decision.

I am going to keep it on auction until I see whats going on.

I don't think any one (except perhaps the auction leader) would begrudge you canceling the auction.

Is this an auction at Sedo ? You can't end the auction like that.

I would not underestimate this situation

and these could happened from time to time. How did she discovered you?
From whois ,so it is pure coincidendce, or did she noticed the name on auction and then contacted you through whois info?

It a nice sum of money, depeds of course on the name, whether it is your selling treshold.

One risk is there, As I have been once contacted by email by sedo broker for one of my name that one interested party would like to ask me for the amount. And without any confirmation of agreements I was bind to my email where I have suggested a substantialy low offer than I wanted .
They have threaten me in case I would not continue with the sale for that sum they will exclude me from the Sedo system completly forever.

rokoroko

P.s. there is one rough solution. You will not sell it through sedo, you will sell it to the lady. and then you must transfer all your names on somebodys name account on sedo as they will probably bannen you.All just is it cont for the 12 000 usd?and how badly do you need them

She contacted me through Sedo auction "contact seller format"

I want to make money but I hate the thought of potentially stepping on toes.

does she have a reason why she can not do it through the sedo auction?

why does she need it so fast?
Does she affraid the a competiton would observe it too?

there must be a reason for rush for it.

Well heres the dilemma im seeing. It is quite obvious from your previous posts what this domain is. Anyone who reads this thread can find out what it is. now if someone takes this the wrong way and tries to win this domain, hoping to resell it, there is no guarantee that this women will come calling for it. My advice is to FULLY disclose the women, her organisation, the domain name, and where it is auctioned etc. then tell the women that if she wants it, she is to place a bid/s at the auction. this way, everything is fully disclosed, and market forces will determine the end price. All this, "some women", "large amount of money" "a domain at auction" etc is the only "dilemma" i see here.

Her name is Rebecca :) and I wasnt sure if we could list domains w/o the thought that it might be promoting. I'll call her tomorrow to get more information. I think my dilemma was is, could I pull it off auction to sell to an end user?

It wouldn't happen to be the domain in his signature would it? The offer sounds dodgy IMO, if they want the domain they can go through sedo auction to get it, and for a lower price to probably.

If it if the signature, I would sell it to her immidiately , you will see whether it is scam or not,

In bad case you will contunue with the auction,if she doesnt pay you.
In fact she should pay you in the 72, incase she want it so fast too?So this would be resolved before your auction will end.

After talking this through and doing some research, I am going to stick to my guns and have her just go through auction.

well, i was going to suggest the opposite.

her figure is way overpriced for the name. but if it were a real bid, i can only imagine a company board had decided on that name/ campaign, need it soon (hurricanes?) and she wants to spend her way out of a problem.

which is an ideal position for a domainer to be in of course. but not if she thinks of another way out of the problem. then you're left with a low $60 ($80?) sale on sedo - and she gets something else.

i'd

(1) register the .org version, and .net (a big clue it is not worth $12,000!)

(2) call sedo and ask the question about if there is any way to have a "buy it now" option, or enable an urgent person to stop the auction and snap it up. it's in their interest to help you out, if they can somehow still get their fees

(3) i can't think of a #3. sell.
