I give up

You know. I posted awhile back about how I thought namepros had changed with the increase in members from a few years ago. I still think this. I have posted a few threads and they have gone unanswered. These where simple requests.

A appraisal for www.kitcar.ws (with or without site)
What is a good Ecommerce script
A contest for a easy cube cart edit.

Would it be to much to ask to get a reply? I remember when you would post and within seconds people where giving opinions. Im done trying to use anyones services on namepros other then the people I have worked with in the past .

First person who posts gets all my $np ( this will get a reply im sure)

Hey im not a regular poster i like to take the time and really post detailed and helpful posts to thoughs that need help, i cannot answer your question about why your posts have gone unanswered but you must realise when a site grows the admin and moderators have alot more work on there hands. The appraisal section has always been quite hard to get a response unless you have a nice name so why not try and appraise someone elses and leave a link to your so they can return the favour.
Try also using icons to make your post more noticeable and try to make the title inviting to viewers this should help you get responses and people entering your contests also make sure your prize is worthy no one is willing to work for low fees.

Also no need to donate your NP$ try offering $5np for an appraisal instead, although make sure they are of a high quality or youll have anyone just posting a random figure to take them off your hands.

Goodluck

The problem with a site getting bigger is more riff raff come along. Thats not to say that some good new members havent joined, but the majority will always be people that want to browse or only TAKE from the site, giving nothing in return.

There is still the hardcore of good members, it is just they are more outnumbered than before now. Even with the best will in the world, they cant get around the 50 new threads that seem to be made every minute! Well done to NP for doing so well with member count, post count etc. But as with every forum, not all will be quality and not all will be posted by quality member.

As long as we keep a good few good threads and posters here, all is well. I know the frustration of posting for an appraisal and then seeing it on a different page just a day later, unanswered.

Stick with it, you have been here quite a while!

It's hard to get an appraisal sometimes. If you give out NP$ or +REP you will usually get a response. I also noticed yesterday that no staff were logged in when I was here.

I have been the Admin and owner of many sites running vB and would be more than happy to help out if asked. However I know RJ hand picks Staff and is very careful. At the end of the day, the more people have power, the more chance somebody might abuse it. I am always extremely careful after a bad experience with a Moderator on an old forum of mine.

Maybe RJ will look into more Staff if he sees fit sometime soon. Timezones of these Staff also need to be taken into consideration.

I want to clear up this misunderstanding.... some of the FL/Staff use invisible mode when browsing the board, and you won't see us when we are logged in.

Rest assured, we are around. :)

I do not believe you can advertise to give out rep anymore for appriasals. I personally believe more people would respond in the appriasal section if people were given NP$ for posting there.

There were alot of problems with that in the past... people posting very short un-thought-out comments / valuations with the sole intent of earning NP$.

Sometimes one user would have the last post in every thread on a whole page! How can that be a good appraisal when they have taken 10 minutes to do the lot.

Agreed - Even at my best and with using tools to help , I spend at least 5 minutes if not more on just one Appraisal ....

We are cutting down on some peeps in that area though , If anyone sees people posting a long string of short post - Please report them .... But also remember - Many of these people aren't earning Np$ , The Staff and Forum Leaders have control over who Earns in that section now. If we get reports or see abuse of the section - We will cut them off on people.

Yep - :tu: , Most of us remain Hidden now - Easier to sneak up on people :p

It is worth pointing out that what you're looking for is quite specific.
I'd reply to help you but there seems little point when I don't know the areas you want to know about.

To appraise a kit car domain, you should have some knowledge of kit cars. I have none so I can't give any sort of appraisal or valuation other than "nice name".
What is a good Ecommerce script - I don't do any Ecommerce sites so again, I can't help you.
A contest for a easy cube cart edit - I've never even heard of "easy cube cart".

I may be new here but that doesn't mean I just take, take, take. I always help whenever I can. I know there's lots of other people who are here to help too.

Maybe you're just unlucky or maybe you're expecting too much. We all have lots of knowledge on different subjects but that doesn't mean that collectively we can answer every question on every subject.

Anyway, maybe now someone will notice this thread and be able to help you. If not, good luck finding the answers.
Sorry we couldn't help you.

This is exactly what im talking about. Thank you for posting this. People are not willing to help unless they are getting something in return. It was never like this.

Also to B33R . ....

People often appraise names they have no idea about. Point is not even 1 person replied. "Cube cart" is a shopping cart script. I did not expect anyone that didnt know anything about it to reply.

But out of all the members here I cant believe that 1 person cant edit a skin, Dont know anything about appraising a name, or cant tell me what a good ecommerce script is

You have to understand that there's just so many appraisal threads and not enough appraisers. Its impossible to reply to all of them.

But all of the "appraisers" would be in full force giving half assed opinions if I posted that I owned XX.com and wanted to know what it was worth . There would not be to many threads then. Let me add that this also would make for a bad start to a newbie that did not get a reply to a thread he made about the first domain he/she got.

No online community is going to be perfect, but I have found NP to be better than most. I am also a member of DNF and paid for a Platinum membership. I think DNF is a fine community, but I find myself spending much more time here, and I didn't even have to pay anything here. I just like the vibe better, seems friendlier.

thats true...
but who wants to appraise shitty domains.. spending time on real appraisals the way they are supposed to be when most of the time you dont even get a "thanks" or get angry with you for being honest

it seems like some people post a name for appraisal everytime they register a new domain

i agree its not the same but neither are other forums that were around at the same time..
atleast namepros still has the community feel to it and you dont have to pay for platinum membership for full site access only to be shat on and told you need to pay $300 for a double extra super platinum membership

I can understand not wanting to apprais bad domains. Any you might know they are bad, But to a newbie and his/her first domain they might not. Nice way to welcome a new member.

Let me say something else about appraisals. When I first joined there was a name I wanted appraised ( I got several) and most if not all told me reg fee if that. To this day I have recieved offers ranging from xxx to xx,xxx . Most have been from large manufactures.

If one name can be appraised all can. You would be surprised how many "shitty" domains are not in other peoples eyes

Not just staff.. I always log on in invisible mode myself. Some people love to use PM's as if it were Instant Messenger.. it can get annoying getting a PM popup every time you open a new page. I don't mind an occasional PM but not 10 in a row ;)

I have the same problem in not getting replies to certain types of threads.. appraisals, I figure I don't get comments because most people figure I know what the domain is worth so they don't bother posting.. other posts, it depends.. not everyone has the same interests.

Also, some will read and misinterpret the tone of a post as it view as sarcasm or whatever, when that wasn't intended so you get a different type reply than you might expect..

You aren't paying anything for appraisals at NP, and the appraisers aren't really getting paid (except for NP$, but that isn't really that much).

I'm surprised there's as many appraisers as there are, they're giving their own free time to appraise your domain for free.

Replies should be valued, not demanded.

:imho: maybe if they're not appraising, they don't have anything good to tell about a domain, so they just keep it to themselves, im not referring to your domain but in mine as well, im poor regarding chosing my own domains myself so I don't get an appraisal (most of them) when I post one - that's practical reason for me , it's just ok and just let the time pass by for me and then I repost again, it might be also that they're doing some tasks on the np$ incentives area like where I spend most of my time.

cheer up someone will appraise it if not soon then just wait.
