Hai folks,

assume i have a reseller webhositng acocunt under xyz.lk. when i buy the webhosting reseller account, it had pre setuped to use the nameservers ns1.xyz.lk and ns2.xyz.lk.

after few weeks i saw the name servers perform very poorly, hosted sites does not work on many isps. so i though to create a brand new private nameeserver with a .net domain.

so i reged a new domain at directi assume xyz.net and created 2 child nameservers there with ns1 & ns2.xyz.net. Each pointing to the reselelr hosting providers ip they provided.

now my reseller hosting provider is telling these name servers not registred. also they tell that you should ask directi to create Glue record. now the funny part is, when i take a live chat at directi and ask about glue record setup, the support staff not responding. after many attempt, finally one support staff responded telling you just ask your hosting provider to create it. But my hosting provider telling me to create it at directi :yell:

my question is
* why my namesers not registred at directi?
* who should create the glue record?

Pls adivse what to do now?

As I understand it, the hosting provider says what IP address(es) to use- then the registrar assigns these when creating the name servers.
i.e. When registering name server you request the registrar of domain to add the host (e.g. ns1.example.com) and a matching IP address (e.g. 192.255.255.255) together. (Wikipedia explains what happens when it's wrong better than the line I wrote trying to explain it: click me)

So if the domain you're managing name servers for is with Directi, then they're the ones to add the records.
(Is there not some place in the control panel where you can do this yourself?)

oh, big problem in the customer support department going on at directi it seems. we are not getting chat responses text from their staff in the live chat window. i only see 'mr.x is typing' but don't get any text the support staff typed. if i would have get them, already this problem is solved. today i chat with 4 staff of them. non of the chat sessions are intact.

Hai coopy :)
thanks you.

i just got this form my reseller hosting provider

Actually, these glue A records must be created on our DNS server,
as these name servers are now pointed to our IP addresses. I've just created them.
Please note that the changes in the domain registrar control panel may take approximately 24 hours to propagate.
But everything looks fine and the domains should start working within 24 hours.

so glue records should be created where the ips pointed to by the child name servers.
