When it comes development, is using a hyphenated domain advisable when the first word ends with the same letter as the second one begins with?

If you own both domains, which one is better to use the primary domain, with the other redirecting:

Great-Treats.com or GreatTreats.com

Basically, what I am asking is if anyone knows of any clear advantages of using one over the other. The only thing I can think of is from usability perspective, the hyphenated name is easier to read.

Ah, the double letter great debate! Personally, I prefer the domain name without a hyphen even if it is a back to back letter.

With that being said the hyphen does allow someone to see that there are two "t's" in the domain name instead of one where someone may inadvertently type in just greatreats.com instead.

I prefer the non-hyphen.

The lowercase + upper case does a good enough job to separate the two words in a logo.

This rather a big issue in the US I guess as in the EU people have less against a hyphen in the name as it gives more visibility and doesn't bring seo disadvantages (not sure though as I'm not a developer).

I'd go with the hyphen any time as it's more aesthetic in your case. You should buy Greatreats.com too(just one t) if you don't have it already to redirect.

IMO there a few rare situations where the hyphen might be useful.
Eg: "kids-exchange" without hyphen may lead to terrible misunderstandings, as it can be read "KidsExchenge" or "KidSexChange" == Big Fail!
and sometimes Caps are not possible to use

In general, an hyphenated domain makes a ton a typo traffic to non-hyphenated version.
Also it causes serious issues with emails to [email protected] which will very often mistyped [email protected] causing serious communication disruptions in a business that decides to use an hyphenated name.

If you develop an hyphenated, you should also own the non hyphenated.

with hyphen for marketing and redirect to non hyphen..I dont see why there is so much hyphen debate; a very outdated argument.

even different colors for each word to separate them and the repeating letter
