How to use gmail with your domain name(s)

  Register any gmail address eg [email protected]
  Set forward your domain name email eg [email protected] to [email protected]
  Log in to [email protected]
  Go to settings/accounts.
  Click add another email address
  Add [email protected]
  Complete the gmail validation sent to [email protected]
  ....the validation message will be forwarded to your gmail account.
  Messages can now be sent from your gmail account selecting [email protected]
  Messages to [email protected] will all now appear in your gmail account.
  The same [email protected] account can be used for running more than 1 domain name account.

note: display of an email full headers will show the email coming from gmail, but normal display will not

additional note: some internet services eg sedo refuse freemail id when you register with them. this facility gets round that problem :hehe:

google calendar:
google 'google calendar' after you have logged into gmail and put a google calendar bookmark into your google.com (or other extension) personalised homepage... it looks as if there is a link from your calendar to email but not vice-versa....
you can also run a number of calendars from the same address, eg a separate work and personal calendar.

no.
from the domain name location you are only organising the email forwarding.

message to info@domainname ----> forward to something@gmail.

no, that service is only currently available as beta for organisations to apply for.

I have already tested it out with my work email address and it works like a dream..no more ugly webmail when travelling!

You can pretty much use any web email and use your domain email forwarding with it. The two features that gmail adds that make it more usable are:

1. The dropdown menu to easily choose to send from any added email account when sending.

2. You can set it to reply from the added email address that something is sent to.

But, it is useful and smart the way it works.

Can anyone confirm this please? So the receipient still sees your gmail email instead of the forwarded email in their inbox?

If they click to look at the full header and return path, then yes they will see it is from your gmail account. But, they will just see the specified non-gmail address in the From field, and when they click to reply, it will reply to the non-gmail address.
