Recently, I've submitted to them few domains to test their selection criteria. They have responded in one or two days, saying, that I should park my domains at their nameservers to test domains traffic. I think it's a pretty standart response as they are searching for a top-notch domains to maximise bidding attraction. So, it's up to you.

1) 25% commission

2) Can't list domains for sale on any venue other than ROTD

3) Transfers money in 30 days

4) Parking domains with them to figure out traffic of offline domains:

Type-in traffics are speculative and it is not practiced by end-users because end-users prefer search engines over type-ins.

5) Selecting names for prebidding then determine what goes into the online and live auctions from analyzing bid interest:

People bid low figures on reserved names just to help their friend's or associate's domains to be chosen for the auction. I think name selection should be done based on quality by industry professionals.

6) Last year's auction results below, what it is sold for and how much seller received. Not satisfactory imo when you take all the above factors in consideration to submit your domains.

Conclusion from last year:

So if you are selling a good domain it won't be sold, if you are selling an average domain it will be sold for a small amount of money and you have to give 25% commission. If you are luck you will have a moderate amount of sale based on the value of your domain.

Over the years one complaint I have seen many times is that any accepted domain is locked up for one year. This has continously been misunderstood. Here's the fine print.

A. In addition to any other rights ROTD may have, if a Domain is accepted for a ROTD Auction or Brokerage during the Exclusive Sales Period, and for a period of one year following the termination of the Exclusive ROTD Sale Period, Seller shall not, directly or indirectly:

  • i. Make contact or attempt to make contact, solicit or attempt to solicit, negotiate or attempt to negotiate, enter into or attempt to enter into any agreement, and/or transact or attempt to transact any business with any potential purchaser (or such purchaser's attorneys, agents (other than ROTD), representatives, employees, officers, directors, principals, owners, shareholders, members, managers or any person or entity that is connected, directly or indirectly, with such purchaser) procured by or introduced to Seller by ROTD, except to the extent such contact is through, or with the prior written consent of, ROTD; or

ii. Commit any other acts, directly or indirectly, which would affect in any way whatsoever, circumvent the restrictive covenant stated herein.

    B. In the event that Seller violates the provisions of this Section, ROTD shall be entitled to receive its full fee as if such Domain were sold for the auction reserve price, or an offer otherwise accepted by the seller (See Addendum 1 Fee Schedule and Policies).

Thanks for pointing it out @Internet.Domains.

It is like you are granting your domain to ROTD for a year, even if they can't find a buyer to your domain.

Unfortunately most of the people do not read about TOS before submitting anything online.

Some of these terms are not domain-investor friendly at all, and should be modified respectively.

Another point I would like to add is also very concerning security-wise. The domain submission page is totally not secure, they do not have any SSL certificate on it.

People giving out their valuable information online like address, email, Whatsapp, Skype and Godaddy account number, Godaddy payee name without any protection.

Last year I have sent an email to Monte about this issue but he replied "Doesn’t need one - its just a domain submission page". Apparently they do not care about this at all but HTTP sites are quite easy to hack.

Those terms are very confusing.

It sounds like you have to pay the 25% commission if an auctioned domain name is unsold at the auction, but then sold on your own up to one year after the end of the ROTD auction. But it also sounds like the commission is only paid if the buyer was a lead that was procured by ROTD during the auction phase. Maybe you don't have to pay commission for your own sales leads. Its really unclear. The language really needs to be clarified, because I'm not paying commissions if they don't procure a buyer. That's insanity.

You are basically selling your domains soul, for the opportunity to be bid on by domainers who buy in the auction houses daily.

Under those terms you are better off doing the work yourself, and finding buyers the old fashioned way thru search leads.

Hi

you can see how evident that is, with many of the same questions asked, repeatedly on the forum.

many want you to tell them, how the process works.. instead of trying to read and comprehend for themselves.
.

imo...
