I know when searching to buy domains it is key to find and buy domains that have generic search engine words in the domain URLs.

So as a beginner how do I know what generic search engine words I should be looking for?
For example, I am thinking about buying a .com domain with pixel AND optic in the domain URL is this a good idea?
Also, I am thinking about buying a .com domain with galaxy AND map in the domain URL is this a good idea?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

You want to sell them in the future, park them, build a site?
What do you want to do with them?

There are tons of resources to learn what is good and what is not. I suggest you check sites like DNJournal.com and NameBio.com and see what is selling.

For example, if you see that BostonPhotographer.com sold for X amount and then you see that most City + Photographer.com names are taken and then you notice a smaller city + photographer.com domain drops, that particular is an indication that domain has some value.

Again, this is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. I hope it helps. Read, read, read...

Firstly don't fall into the trap many people do of registering things without doing your research, and knowing what you are buying and why. There is a ton of info on here, other forums, and look up the blogs of the top domainers. Also Adam Dicker runs a Domaining college on Facebook which is fantastic for newbies and people with xp.

Before you reg a domain you should know everything about it, such as is it a new reg, has it just dropped, has it been regd before, what are the monthly search figs for your keywords, what is your plan for the domain, what would its use be, if for resell then you should know your target market before buying, the amount of potential buyers, what price you would be happy with......and more

As a online marketer i prefer .com domain always because there have 2 advantage
1. Search engine trust this Top level domain
2. My traffic also trust this top level domain

whatever you use .net .org and you target any geographical area then you can use that country extension domain eg : .uk .us

If you are starting out, buy .COMs.

Most of domain buying is instinct and research.

Go take a look at what is expiring using FreshDrop, and pick names that you think businesses will want in the future.

Stay away from trademarks and buy short names.

You will quickly find that there is a lot of competition, and buying a decent name can cost you hundreds of dollars. Over time, you will learn how to spot cheaper names that can give you a higher revenue.

Good luck!
