I was wondering, anyone here has anything to share on how they keep their domain names safe?

1. Do you verify your ownership of domains with third parties e.g lawyers?

2. Do you use whois protection to foil identity theft?

3. Do you have any special arrangements with your registrar to alert you of any transfers, password cracking attempts?

4. etc, etc...?

The only prevention i take is to make sure all my names are in locked status,I check all my accounts daily.I used to use whois proctection,But for what?? The type of people that steal indentities and ect have way better sources than whois info unfortunatly,The names owner is what the whois reads. So i try and proctect my DN accounts more than anything.

You can hide and constantly change your admin email that the whois protect email redirects to, X. No one will know what the current admin email is, unless its the registrar of course.

I wish I had whois protection. If i had the money I would get it.
Other than that, my domain names are locked. That is all I have to protect them :O

No. Too costly. But I do use one of the oldest tricks in the book: I use the address of my Post Office box for WHOIS. The Post Office won't give out your real address unless there's an FBI investigation or something like that. So it's a good way of thwarting the identity thieves, IMO.

Well since I register all my .com/.net/.org domains at NameCheap now I'm proteced with that privacy guard they offer. So thieves can't even find out my email address, personal info, etc. to hack into my account.

NameCheap's privacy guard is great. But when I'm away from NC, I've been mostly relieing on the locks. Maybe I should try out some of the techniques mentioned. here.

GoDaddy.com sends you emails whenever anything is changed to do with the name. And I think everyone should have their domains locked...:O
