I have recieved an offer for about $20K for one of my domain names. I'm wondering if anybody can suggest an escrow company that takes care of sales like that and is located in the US.

I believe I'm dealing with an out of country ( non-US ) buyer so I don't want to get screwed with a scam.

Also, what is the best appraisal company to go with?

Anything else I need to know or consider?

Thanks in advance!

Just got an eerie doubt, whether the prospective buyer has asked you to get an appraisal done?
It could be one of those appraisal scams u know.
How did u get the offer? somebody offered via sedo or something or did u get a direct email?

Thanks Smiler,
Better be careful than sorry :\ I've got a few scam mails myself. Now I know better than to go rushing to get an appraisal.

Exactly...if the person's asking for an appraisal, it's your typical appraisal scammer.

99% you are dealing with a SCAMMER as my experience... Be careful!

Scammer for sure, if they're asking for an appraisal - a real, legit buyer would do that themselves before-hand ... and anyways a buyer too cheap to, wouldn't open with a $20K offer ... if sounds too good to be true, well ... it probably is.

In answer to your question about escrow ... definitely https://www.escrow.com/

And if they don't respond back, tell them you're from Nigeria, that you're very wealthy and that you have a lot of money you'd be willing to share with them if they help you offshore it by sending you a small sum of 20k via Paypal immediately :D

You should have them pay for the appraisal, and if it comes out as they ask, go ahead and take that out of the final sale price... thats fair right?

Sorry to hear about the confusion, im sure you got very excited, as many of the rookie domainers here have at some point. Atleast you asked before you fell victim.
