I'm wondering what tactics people use for regging typo domains. I've compiled lists of the top 50 or so sites based on overture, alexa, etc. and looked for available typos.
The way I look at it there are two types of typo domains.
The first is the misspelling: For example, someone spells their.com as thier.com
Second is the keyslip: For example, someone spells yahoo.com as tahoo.com (because the "t" is right next to the Y on QWERTY keyboards)
As I looked through available domains I was amazed to find every single typo imaginable regged for the big sites. After about two hours of work I found a good available typo for a really well known domain. It was just one letter off, and that letter is right next to the proper one on the keyboard. The equivilant of "tahoo.com" - and no, that wasn't it.
I was so excited...but it gets no traffic.
I'm getting maybe one visitor a day to this address which I just can't figure out. And then I see people selling domains like msyspacec.com and claiming hundreds of visitors a day. If this is true...I'm confused.
How do you guys determine what typos will work? Help a confused noob.
