How to find the next big wave?!

When you live your lives as we do, looking into the future, you see things before others. That never changes. So the next Frank or Kevin has the best chance to happen to one of us or even them again. Just not in domains. That cake is baked. The history has been written. That trail has been blazed. It is what is to come from here.
This coments from Rick Schwartz make me think about the new wawe! But what is in your opinion the new trend that will comme in the future? Wich products, wich new inovations?
The new wawes .... won’t happen in the domain industry. They will be there at the next big thing. Their names may change, but they will show up and if we do it right, we too will find the next big wave.
What is your prediction for the future? What about forex industry?

I think there are many waves happening. Some bigger than others. Smart domainers will try to keep quiet on their waves for as long as possible, as some are not mainstream yet.

I am sure that quite a few years down the road there will be people talking about the names they were buying in 09 & beyond. There will probably be quite a few who think "why didn't I think of that" There will be even more who wonder what exactly they were thinking / doing.

My point is that there are lots of opportunities out there if a person does the research & work.

This is only my opinion, others my vary.

Why wait for the next trend, or next big thing? Think about what everyone needs right now, and you'll find yourself a lucrative market to build a business in.

My prediction is that people will start depending on themselves & their local community more for basic needs, instead of relying on chain stores, or the so-called president. Gardening is becoming quite popular again, not to mention you could easily make money selling organic fruits & vegetables to local farmer's markets and local resturaunts in your area possibly.

As for the next big industry, it's hard to say. I think more people are discovering the power of making money online each day. I personally think the domain industry is still growing, despite that all the great dot com's are gone. Developing domains into profitable websites is where the money seems to be at currently. Who knows what the future will bring, but what we all need is food & water. They're more precious than gas.

Drops always seem to create opportunities ... the importance of development is becoming increasingly important, as well! :gl: :imho:

Perhaps, eventually, with regard specifically to domain names ...... it may be with the cool and highly memorable .WEB (and possibly other new forthcoming gTLD's)? :talk: :imho:

.....never mind, I'v renewed a few until 2010/11/12 so after the tsunami hits at least I'll have some good ones left over :tu:

Its a blood bath out there and names are dropping fast. Until this mess in the economy clears we will not be able to inflate our dreams.

We need sound economic foundations to be laid in banking, and for currency use the world thru out. Thinking of how bad nations want to keep the merry round going around we will see many more shoes drop and many more being thrown at leaders before domaining gets up and running again.

We have a long way to go before those in power admit the lies and implement what created prosperity for almost two hundred years... a sound money system is needed right now. Trouble is those in power have mired themselves up to their elbows in vote buying, so the madness will go on until the dollar buys nothing anymore. Then change will come and we will be much better off.

Until then I really don't see the advantage of registering tons of names like we have all been doing for a long time. I see that as a liability as the market is not really rewarding that action and why tie up funds for renewels that are going to be needed in a bad way to make ends meet. Downsizing and stocking up can be a better place for funds when disaster hits.

What I do see is more than one family member sharing assets and the family pooling resources. I think several will live in a home with one maybe two having a job and the others even losing the unemployment benefits as this is going to be a prolonged turndown.

Dont go looking for the next big wave - ride the ripples that are all around you - there is still plenty of money to be made in niche markets - not all companies are doing badly.
