The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Everyone is not really giving you straight answers. If you are trying to run your own forum it really isnt that much to start it. First off you have to get a domain thats like 9 dollars. Then you will have to find yourself some good ------ hosting. This can range from 100-200 for a year if you buy an ok package that is offered. Now for staff members and all that you really dont need any untill your forum picks up and becomes larger. By that time you will have probably have made friends with 1 or 2 members on your board (hopefully lol) and I know someone will offer to do it for free because they really like the boards. I mean i was running a ------ website and had 3 free moderators who where helping out so much just because they liked the site. So your finally price to the max might be $209 for a year. so that really isnt that much at all.

Hope this helped you out a little bit.

yes but it's a torrent forum :) It depends on what torrents you insert in it. I can host you for $12 (5gb, unlimited traffic on 50mbs server) or $22 (15gb, unlimited traffic on 100mbs server) but i need more info about this site and so on.

I also saw some places that host forums for free, there may be some kind of ad share deal. You can still use your own domain name. Just google 'free hosted forum' to see what is available, one might be good for you.

...no, some of them let you use your own domain. There was a guy on digital point with a network of them set up but I dont remember which service he was using.

Another option would be a hosted social network site that includes a forum at ning.com ... they charge around $5 a month for using your own domain but that includes free hosting.

Honestly I have found mybb to be a great alternative. The backend script is quite easy to navigate and plenty of themes to work with.

It's extremely easy to change to your liking. I would highly recommend it! :)

1. Domains (Around $7.69 per year)
2. Hosting (Around $12 - $100 per year)
3. Forum Script: PHPBB (Free)

You can start a forum with just $20 per year!
