I would say it would have at least been over $100K. Nintendo had the budget for it, so why not ask that much?

OMG, I hope that´s not true.

I doubt a danish domain is worth that much.

Honestly - it sounds like you cleaned up nicely. Nothing you can do at this point if you sold it and someone resold it for more. Just upward and onward to the next domain name. Wouldnt you feel like a genious if they had threatened with legal action to get the domain?

In my opinion, I doubt they paid over $100K for it. We will probably never know (unless you ask the seller). If I were to guess I'd say somewhere between $1x,xxx and $4x,xxx but that's just a rough guess.

But also remember there is always the possibility it was NOT sold at all, it could have been taken from them.

They probably bought it for a lot more than you sold it. But do you know for sure that it was sold and not forced to be given over?

Oh no, it was not forced.

I was the only one with an active domain called Wii, before the name was announced my site was at the top of the list of all search engines. I had the site since 2001, and these are my initials, I doubt Nintendo could force the name from me.

I sold it to a company that has helped sites like Google to purchase similar names, this company has just recently sold the domain to Nintendo.

Oh okay so that company DID sell it. Well then I don't know :)

One the one hand if you kept it Nintendo could have slapped you with a Cease & Desist (I'm actually surprised that they didn't). You got a decent sum of cash for it and they probably got some more.

You know what I wouldn't be upset.

Yeah, I´m happy alright, otherwise I wouldn´t have sold it.

Just damn curious about the final price. Some people tell me that it was worth much more, others say I got the right price for it. It would have been another matter if I got toplevel domains (which was available to me, except for .com), who knew ?

Most likely they were brokers for Nintendo and got a commission.

Did it not occur to you that something with 'wii' would end up with Nintendo...

I think that is the most likely explanation

Probably worth a little more than you made. But could Nintendo have issued a Cease and Desist? If you bought it before they announced the name I mean.

I very much doubt it IMO
