If I build a minisite - like 2 pages with a few rotating articles to change things up a bit - and I have no incoming links, how long will it take google to "find" me and add my site to the directory? And what will this depend on?

Thanks...look forward to giving rep to those who share their knowledge.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

stick a link to it in your NP sig and you will get indexed pretty quickly

If you don't have ANY links, and you just add it with their add-url page - at least a month.

If you can find some place to link to it (even your sig, as suggested above) that will help. The better / bigger place you find to put a link, the faster and better it will be indexed.

Also, as long as your site is all above board and not breaking any SEO rules, you can also submit it to Google Webmaster Central and verify it with them. That way you can go in and get information on how Google sees your site.

I did this, but it doesn't seem to speed the process - helpful info afterwards though...

Should that have sped it up?

I dunno - I don't know when you submitted it and where, and I don't know how long it's been..? The most important thing is to get some links.

putting links up on other active websites (forums, blogs) will help. just make sure that they aren't using nofollow tags.

i'd suggest you throwing a link into your namepros sig.

Hopefully this is concidered on topic...

What exactly are the rules about links in your signature here on NP? I've also got a site that just doesn't want to get added to the index, but I hadn't put it in my sig because I wasn't sure what is acceptable.

I have 3 domains that have been at WhyPark for close to 5 months but have not been indexed by Google which surprises me because all the other domains have been indexed by the big "G" a long time ago. They seem to get bypassed by google every time, however they have been indexed and have backlinks by Yahoo and Msn.

Someone give me an explanation for that, if there is one.

Gil, I have the same problem. Where they dropped domains that you reg'd? I'm trying various things to get them re-indexed by the big G. Namepros sigs are not enough.

Were you the original owner, or were they expired domains you picked up. Might have been penalized or banned in a previous life. Go visit the Wayback Machine on www.archive.org and type in the domains - see if they have a history there.

Create a quick blog at blogger.com and add a link to your site on it. That should help with some pretty fast indexing.

Just got back to NP and saw your sugestions.
All my domains including those 3 were hand reged. After checking them with www.archive.org (I've bookmarked this) it appears that 1 of them (elmundodvd.com) had a previous life that I was unaware of. The other 2 (magicofsoccer.com and euroresorts.info) give the message "Sorry, no matches"

Thanks for your help guys and welcome back to NP Varon. Will try your sugestion.
