Can anyone tell, how hard the crisis is hitting the domain market?

I can see a lot less of selling and at a lot cheaper prices.

How long will this remain?

Being optimist, we'll see bottom by end of this year.

LOL, this is the point, who realy knows what will happen, and when it will happen, or how it will happen, or if anything is going to happen at all. The market is the market, and it's way to complex to analyse such a broad question in general.

You have to make your own judgement about these things taking into account the economy, world events, currencies and short term and long term views on the internet, computing and technology just to name a few things off the top of my head.

Nobody can clearly answer these questions, only make an informed decision on the information they choose to look at. The more information you analyse, the better understanding of the issues you will have to make a judgement on what may or may not happen.

All I know is you won't see a better time to be buying in a very long time. Make sure you take advantage of this rare dip in prices.

It will take stats from the next three months to see how hard the economic crisis will affect the domain market. The first big test is the .mobi Junk Dump/landrush anniversary. I'm not sure how many .mobi domains will be dropped but it if it is over 10% then it could be a strong indication. The new/deleted figures for .com/net have calmed down since the domain tasting rules went into effect in July. I'll dig up some monthly stats and post them later tonight.

Regards...jmcc

This dip/correction/whatever in domains is directly related to the world economy, although some sectors (LLL and LLLL.com) were slow to react. When the overall economy rebounds then the domain market will also rise.

Most so-called experts think the credit-housing problems in the USA have a long time to run yet, maybe a year. But the takeover yesterday of Fanny and Freddie stabilizes fully half of the mortgage market at one go. With an election looming the government is likely to make mortgage lending a lot easier. So, slowly, confidence should return.

The .Mobi junk dump will likely be large, regardless of the economy. That is because there was a lot of junk bought, not a weakness in either the .Mobi market or the domain market.
