I placed a backorder through Snapnames for a Network Solutions domain before the renewal date of domain. And it hasn't yet been renewed.

But Snapnames show lists of expiring domain names what i want to know is - is this list just the ones that weren't already backordered? Basically surely if this list contains all the domain names whether or not they have been backordered surely this means that there will always be competition on one word domains?

It's a list of all deleting domains. If it is a good domain it will surely have multiple backorders. If that is the case the name will go to auction where everyone who placed backorders can bid.
