Does Snapnames work for HugeDomains!?

I recently placed a back order at Snapnames and Namejet for an expired name I could see was heading to the drop. I haven't done this in a while and overlooked also putting a backorder with DropCatch. Of course, DropCatch got it and as there were no other backorders it went straight into HugeDomains where it now sits with a $2995 price tag. Darn!

A few days later I get an email from Snapnames breathlessly announcing "Good News!", that the domain I had wanted was now available at HugeDomains with the $2995 price tag….Is this usual for Snapnames to do this, or are they now a division of HugeDomains??

That's definitely strange. HugeDomains is owned by DropCatch AKA NameBright AKA Andrew Reberry. I always considered it his own personal marketplace where they list the domains he and his company owns only. Maybe some new kind of partnership or something? Seams odd though since I would consider those two to be in competition with each other, lol.

Nothing unusual. SN has its own marketplace and the name is now listed there.
You got a notification because you previously expressed interest by placing a bid on the dropping domain. I get these notifications often.

I'm a bit confused.. I don't think he ever said the name is now listed there (SnapNames)? If he said DropCatch caught it and the name is now listed at HugeDomains, then it likely would not be listed on SnapNames, would it? I think he is saying SnapNames actually emailed him and told him the name was now available on HugeDomains.. Why would SnapNames be telling him the name is listed on HugeDomains? That isn't their marketplace..

Thank you, yes, that's exactly what I mean. Snapnames emailed me telling me I could now buy this domain on HugeDomains at $2995, after Snapnames had failed to catch it for me at $69. I'll pass on this name but I am curious why Snapnames is pushing HugeDomains inventory.

Maybe they have a deal where if somebody backordered at Snapname, but DC got it and put it on HD, then SN sends the targeted mail list and SN gets paid either per sale (if they have tracking with the link) or per email sent. Even if they compete for drop catching, it does not mean they cannot cooperate for sales. Just like I sold my domain listed with GD/Afternic via Network Solutions.
