Whats going on at SnapNames? I've bid on 2 names in the last 3 days. The time for pre-order bidding passed but bidding hasn't been closed (where I would have won the domain by default as the only bidder). How long after the Order By Date do they close the bidding? It seems those domains without bids close promptly.

I checked the order by date shown to me. It was exactly 16 hours ahead of the internal date shown on each domain. I'm ahead of SnapNames by 16hrs. Both domains are being left open for more than 24hrs already. The 1st domain was renewed, but it took SnapNames more than half a day to notify me after I first saw it was renewed. The 2nd domain just passed the 24hr date but hasn't been renewed (yet). 1st domain with Moniker, 2nd with Dotster.

SnapNames just confirmed I won the 2nd domain. Approximately 1.25 days after the bidding should have closed.

Yes, there are delays.
Sometimes there are domains that are allowed into redemption even when there's at least one bid (yours). Some sync problems with the registrars.

I'll up this thread with a question of my own. I want to backorder an expired domain but snap won't accept my bid. I search the domain and it says "closed". Why would it say that?

I don't recall seeing that, but my guess would be it is passed the time for backordering at snapnames or auction closed or renewed. I usually see nothing, just the domain removed from their service. Sometimes I see a new Backorder available, usually after it's been renewed, but not 100% clear about that.

Does it still say closed today? Normally that happens when it just recently closed bidding (like stub mentioned) on an expired domain and it'll go back to a "backorder" status 3-4 days afterwards when the auction is completed. Without knowing the domain that would be my guess.
