How does one even begin to develop an adult website? Are their any good affiliate programs with which I can fill my site with content? How would I find a host for an adult website?

This isn't exactly what I had in mind when I registered tSex.org and xxxQ.org (and, of course, the pathetic b--j.net and b--j.org) but if it's possible and profitable, I wouldn't mind.

I registered with that forum but I'm not yet allowed to post. Is it possible to create a revenue stream based on ads rather than sign-ups?

You can make $ via BlackLabelAds.com or AdEngage.com, kinda like google adsense for adult sites, but they only pay pennies for clicks. Theres so much free porn out there that its getting harder and harder to get people to sign up to pay sites, I mainly promote live cams and dating affiliates myself.

How well you do will greatly depend on how much traffic you get.

A large portion of my adult revenue is made with MovieDollars.com, the affiliate program of HotMovies.com and Clips.com

That's why I also offer pay-per-clip content besides hosted galleries.
Ppc offers the content one needs without the hassle of signups and the almost inevitable rebills.

So, have you found that you got more revenue from other sources than ads? About how much revenue are you getting (if I may ask)?

I only have one adult dating site. Using iwantu.com affiliate program. They offer a free site to put up under your domain. Payments are quite ok, $105 for a paid member if you have traffic that converts well. I myself am using a revenue share program (35%) with usual signups I get 10-24$ per new user.

P.S. I think this thread should be moved to adult subforum...

mod edit: link removed.

The adult forum seems to be focused on domain names themselves, and this thread isn't vulgar. I think this thread is probably alright here (though, obviously, it's the moderators' call).

Do you market your website? How? Posting in adult forums? Buying ads?

You can find some good quality bj sponsors at adultaffiliateprograms.nl . That should give you enough content to fill your site.
