OK, noone will give away their secrets here I know, heck even I won't.

But in rough terms, how do you find your domains (new regs, not drops)?

Do you brainstorm?

Do you scour specific websites for ideas?

Do you have a "system" or "machine" that works for you?

Am interested to hear :)

I just think of keywords and check to see if they're available.

Occasionally, I'll use www.domainsbot.com

One thing I don't do is register any name you have to explain to people the meaning .If name is not self evident what is the point

I think of keywords, listen to the news, radio for the new and upcoming (more lately than ever.) Also a new thing is just typing in any old word I think of (and like) into my browser, and write down if it leads to a parked page, a blank 404 not found page, a hokey personal site or a lean-mean-business-machine. If it leads to a hokey site or 404 I check WHOIS and write down the email addresses to contact later with an offer. These people can't be bothered with a site and may enjoy having cash in hand rather than a domain name or old hokey site that doesn't bring any money. Right now I have only emailed two different ones to enquire about $$ and am saving the ones I really want until I actually have some money in hand to offer.

One way I discovered a week or two ago is to find a bulk whois site that shows availablilty for the top extensions. I then enter a list of terms, and have the bulk checker do the work. I found a nice city .org that way.

I sit at work bored and listen to talk radio and when a word sticks out that is used in everyday language I search the h*ll out of it with any extension and one other keyword I can think of....and when all is lost I try a hyphen on the combinations hoping for a last resort domainโ€ฆ

It got me a sale since starting this 6 months ago (not a big one) but a saleโ€ฆ

Thank you for your time.

Domain Name Analyzer and Notepad are all you need. Oh -- and Wikipedia lists.
