I’m curious how others brainstorm domain name ideas.

Do you use specific tools, generators, keyword research, trends, or just freestyle until something “clicks”? Do you focus on short names, brandables, exact-match keywords, or something else entirely?

I’ve been experimenting with different approaches — checking drops, analyzing trends (e.g. use Keyword Planner in Google Ads), watching emerging tech keywords — but I’d love to hear what creative or practical methods other people use to spark new domain name ideas.

What’s your process?

My wife is only happy after it's sold.

Usually I just think of a name and then give up because JoesCornerPlumbing.whatever is doing just fine now that they have it in dot-ai

Life is the best tool. Observations. Experiences.

Throughout your day, ask yourself if the words and phrases you see and hear would make a good domain name: brand, slogan, messaging, etc.

Jot them down on your phone or on a notepad.

Hi, jr1

I start with user intent mapping; trends matter, but intent predicts durable naming demand.

I monitor the wholesale market for domains that meet my criteria at a price that makes sense. There has to be a business use case for it, and it has to be in an industry that is willing to spend money on domains. I prefer domains that appeal to a broad customer base, such as domains that can apply to multiple industries rather than just a single niche or region.

I typically don't hand-register domains unless I need a cheap domain for personal use. Most of the good domains are taken. Occasionally, one does slip through the cracks, but they don't stay unregistered for long.

Some folks have enough foresight to anticipate future trends, though these domains are often registered 10+ years early. That is a long investment horizon for a long shot, while the S&P 500 has reliably compounded in the long term. So, it has to be a really great opportunity to be worth allocating capital.

u just have to keep on top of stuff

news.. trends etc...

it's a game of the more time u put in the more money u get out

which is identical to everything else in life

it's really that simple.

if u spend 10 hour a day reading about domains.. np... namebio etc... u will be a pro in one year.. 1h a day.. u r pro in 10yr .. etc...

Drinking two cups of green tea isn't good for your health. At least one tea bag for each cup per day or weekly. If it becomes a part of you, you won't have a bowel movement without tea.

I work in multiple fields, and many of which keep me updated with latest trends in travel, up and comming cities, blockcchain, and tech in general.
I am always on the look out for the underrated, and for what is next before it becomes popular.

While handregging lately, i focused too much on one idea spending literally hours and hours depleting the day only to find nothing. The next day all of a sudden, while i was looking for something else...bingo! Cant call it hardwork totally, more like frequency. If its reasonably possible, have your fm receiver open in that frequency cuz a nice tune might be transmitted anywhere / anytime. But domaining is addictive so this approach might be equally harmful if its out of control, surpassing family. Then its called neither hardwork nor frequency. Its stupidity.
