Just saw this post from efty saying they just hit a million names in their system

my question is how do you go from ~50k names in May 2017
https://twitter.com/eftycom/status/870159754399698945

to over 1 million in august?
https://www.domaininvesting.com/efty-hits-1-million-milestone/

whois data says 23k names on their name servers
http://whois.domaintools.com/eftydns.com

If you have a hypothetical 5,000 users that means every user would have had to load average of 200 names. We have data on hundreds of users with the average # of names per user under 50 names

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Hi everyone. We currently have 1M+ domain names under management at Efty (which is the number of domain names Efty users are managing in their Efty accounts and not the number of domain names in our zone file). If you read our tweets or the article on DomainInvesting.com it also states clearly we're talking about domains that have been added to our platform, not the name servers. The number of domain names that are using our For-Sale landing pages (aka using our name-server) is around 140,000 at the moment and anybody can easily access this numbers and those of similar/competing services since it's publicly available through services like https://www.domainiq.com/nameserver?eftydns.com or https://dns.link/eftydns.com so it would be kinda silly if we would exaggerate or make up numbers.

Transparency is very important to us so if this wasn't clear to some I would like to apologize.

You must have missed the very first post, and his other posts about efty.

It only takes 1 Efty customer who bought 1,000,000 .XYZ domains for a penny to reach it. The same could be said about other domain discounts (giveaways).

It's merely an empty statistic used to generate hype. (n)

200 names average doesn't seem high, many have lots more. Those with low reg numbers probably wouldn't use something like this.

Marketing, positive reviews, owner response etc. can help the numbers.

Also, from a marketing perspective, and since you're a competitor, a few of your posts about them aren't a good look, comes across as hating a bit. Just build your product the best you can.

we have a superior product with offerings not available anywhere else. we are currently reviewing our product with some of the largest portfolio holders do to our larger plan offers. this is not about us liking or hating anyone or any service.... its simply discussing the 1 million name claim.

May be they are counting all the domain which even got expired or left to there market.

Look at your first post. Screenshot of 50,000 domains but then you post - "whois data says 23k names on their name servers"

So obviously more than their name servers, based on your post.

Right.

whois data says 23k names on their name servers
http://whois.domaintools.com/eftydns.com

You know these tools are not definitive, right? As in, there is usually more than what their results show. Why is it impossible that they have 1,000,000 on their platform? Because yours doesn't?

There is hate because of the competition.

That`s why it is posted. He promoted himself mentioned providing a better service.

I checked them up couple of months ago since I saw @Want2learn using their service.

Personally I didn`t find the site useful but I have no experience with though domains so I can`t criticize their service maybe their customers are happy with them maybe not.

Any how this isn`t created to compare which service is better, doron answered his question.

Two more thoughts on this...

(1) The 140,000 number is just NameServer use. That doesn't include domains forwarded via redirect. When I tried Efty, they didn't have NS set up yet. I had to use Nameserver.io for bulk forwards. Gotta assume there's a bulk amount forwarding to Efty landing server using other methods.

(2) I assume the 1 million+ number also includes free trial accounts no longer in use. When I came back to Efty (after beta) my domains were still in my account.

In response to those saying @toughdomains created this thread simply to bash Efty, I think that's a little harsh. I think they just wanted a comment, as a competitor, on the 1 Million feat as to them it seemed excessive (maybe jealous) to have that many domains forwarded. I assume, like me, they were mislead to thinking they had 1 million domains forwarded. PR and inflated numbers appears to be what the domain industry is all about. That, and grilling. This thread could have been posted in Efty marketplace review, to consolidate all Efty related NP content. But then OP would have missed out on the PR.

It was a joke in response to him saying he would leave the thread. So I don't give a rat's as$ for your respect.

i am no longer part of this discussion...I dont want to be associated with these attacks

congrats
now there are attacks
now there is hate

@LarryDomain sorry you lost a lot of respect from me right now

guys: / girls:

a valid question
has not been answered

why do you turn this tread
into something ugly?

why is that?

I think Efty might be talking about the total domains on their platform. I think I have 1200+ myself there. I only have a few using their landing pages but I have all my names there as I like their service and its easy to use. Efty is awesome.

what I see in this thread is lot of bashing of @toughdomains
who asked a valid question
which to me stays un-answered

as the question was not how the numbers are counted
but how the sudden increase happend

and a lot of support for @efty
-no idea why-

by the way @efty counts my 847 domains or so as well
as I started to add domains into their system

I have never added any nameserver changes as far as I remember
as for me the system was not usable

so I think its at least a completely irrelevant number this 1 million
that should not be published for promotional purposes
if you don't want to provoke threads like this

like I would claim http://F1LTER.com manages over 1 mill domain names
- which is true today its database size: 1088123 dropping domain-
who cares????

Im hoping a reputable blogger and blogs promoting the news like domaininvesting in addition to their connection to domainsherpa would not be putting out fake news...simply asking how they arrived at that number....seems high

Tough Domains you are also providing a similar service like EFTY right?

I don`t care if the numbers are right or wrong, I enjoy their landing pages.

I can say that their marketplace is not the best, well that`s clear from the spam offers I receive on their platform.

But anyhow I like to use their free landers.

its importnat to care about truth imo

p.s. are you sure efty is free?

agreed truth is important....if you misrepresent or inflate one thing what else are you inflating? offers received? sales prices etc?

well you know.. nobody is accussing anybody of anything. until they are proven guilty.

its just as important to not accuse anyone without proof as it is to accuse those proven guilty. imo

It's not a good sign when you don't realize you're the one struggling. Reread the thread slowly.

Thanks for chiming in before this snowballed. Appreciate the transparency.

Does the 1M+ include expired domains as well? IE Expired domains domainer's didn't remove from their Efty cockpit? Doesn't really matter - just wondering.

If you read their tweets, they are clearly talking about names added to the platform, not names using their nameservers.

A significant discrepancy in those number is not unusual. Afternic has an astounding 12,000,000+ names on their platform, and less than 200,000 using their nameservers.

You are obviously just trying to challenge the credibility of a competitor as a way of promoting your own competing service. I've seen you hijack efty discussion threads to promote your own service a number of times here on NP in the past.
