How can I make an image look like its sunken into a picture?

I have a picture of a pumpkin and need to make a person look like hes sunken into the pumpkin, kinda like hes a cutout? I have photoshop and illustrator cs2 can anyone help?

I dont think I understand what you are asking. Can you clarify a little bit, or do can you show us some examples of what you are trying to do??

I think the term you are looking for is "inset".

Make an image with 2 layers, pumpkin on bottom, person on top
Then double click the person layer, then bevel and emboss, and play around with those settings

sunken? do you mean embossing it?

As per websters dictionary Sunken means...
Lying on the bottom of a river or other water
Try using Overlay Layer option in Photoshop.
