"The legislation would make it illegal for banks and credit card companies to make payments to these sites. It also allows law enforcement officials to force Internet service providers to remove links to the websites. Many major credit card companies already refuse to process such payments. Opponents of the bill, including online gambling sites and a new group representing U.S. poker players, noted the growing popularity of Internet gambling and predicted that people would continue to sidestep laws."

Like I heard the announcer on CNN say today.
If you dont want to gamble dont go to the site.
If you dont want to gamble dont go to vegas.

This is all the idiots in congress have to do when we have 100's and 1000's of problems in our country that they should be working on.
How about letting me choose what I want to do with my life instead of shoving your beliefs down my throat

Not to worry too much. Internet gambling is going nowhere. The US government is merely putting on a show. What they really want is NOT to curtail Internet gambling but rather to get a larger slice of the revenues from these sites than they already get. Remember, this is the USA. Money talks big time. And it speaks the loudest to the drama-mongering socialists who are the first to claim that money is secondary to them and that the poor are their #1 priority. Everytime I hear a politician say something to the effect that he is looking out for the working class and the poor and downtrodden, I run away - FAST - and go hug my guns - TIGHT!

The hijacked US government (which has been hijacked for over 40 years now) needs to step aside and get lost. It's only a matter of time before things get really ugly in the USA. But I'm not too sure they care. Civil war in imminent and they know it. Be prepared to take 10 steps backwards fellas. It's gonna be brutal.

"Greg Avioli, chief executive officer of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, acknowledged the bill would likely move Internet gamblers away from banned sites toward horseracing sites."

Am I the only one that finds this statement extremely offensive?? So they're saying that we are all a bunch of degenerate gamblers and if we can't get our fix from online casinos and poker we'll naturally migrate to gambling on horse races instead? Could it be just possible that I only enjoy gambling on poker, because I love poker and am not some ravenous degenerate in need of blowing money on any form of gambling?

I thought I had read that the senate would be voting on it later that same day... but I didn't find it in the article (LINK HERE). Does anyone know the result or if the vote even happened?
