The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Look you guys can't even agree on what it means among yourselves so stop trying to convince me.
I know what I see. Confusion.
I was at one of those dev conferences that presented it. I know what I was told.
Someone better get control of what it means before anyone starts using it as their brand.

And I did already mention this concern before I this thread if you'd remember. It could happen with any technological term... There are many examples and it's out of anyone's hands what CEOs do regardless if there is an established definition or not.... I think you know this already.....

XR unlike MR is very popular with domainers/tech companies and developers.

Do your own research? You think I came to these conclusions and theories from just a couple of links I can just "point" you to??

Have an open mind. Think more flexibly and understand that there are no absolute set of rules with this sort of thing as you've been struggling to understand. XR, at least as it is used to mean XReality is more loose, flexible and not nearly as pedantic as you are trying to make it...which is why it works so well in its most popular use cases (intra-industry)

On a pure domain investment level, XR has its place. Whatever it stands for- it does fill a gap as an all inclusive term and where there is a gap there is profit to be made. I do think it will some what limited in scope and stand by the idea that only certain types of names will succeed. i.e b2b, news, etc. Random sexy keywords won't cut it no matter how premium they may have been in other niches imo. Did I invest in XR? Yes. Am I a confident investor? No. Does what I think matter? No not really lol... only recorded and repeatable sales does. IMO there's not enough of a need for me to spend real money in this niche given alternative vehicles in the domaining world. But on a pure speculation level.... I think it's worth the risk. I've increased my holdings to 30 or so but mostly for keywords I have top position in VR or AR. I'm rooting for XR. I'm big on aesthetics when it comes to domaining and XR has always attracted me... just not holding my breath and tampering expectations with experience.

I did my own research ! Hence my opinion of it !
Sorry you do not like it or agree.
But no matter what you say it is... it is confusing because everyone is not on the same page with it.

We're mostly on the same page... Don't let Elad's little "Cross" contamination confuse you.

I don't want to speak for others but the general consensus among domainers seems to be that it's mostly an industry term at the moment but some if us may be more hopeful that it will become a consumer term than others...but regardless we are all investing in at least a few consumer terms. Some key words like "home" can be both B2B and consumer, so it's not black and white.

Ok I agree that confusion surrounding a term is never a good thing.

But the consumer term argument doesn't have to hold as much weight as some probably put on it.

Even if XR doesn't become a huge consumer term and is more of an industry term can't that still be a good thing?

If companies look at it as a branding option then that's surely a plus for domain names?

After all most domains are either purchased by either domainers/industry insiders or companies, if a percentage of these 3 entitities are open to XR then that's where potential sales come from isn't it?

Yes terms going commercial is another positive factor but can't imagine many consumers are going to be the ones who potentially make offers on tech domains.

If a company is going to offer more than one singular experience then I can see why they would be open to branding around a term that suggests more than one reality exists.

Yup... And obviously the reason why it's important when a terms go pop with consumers in domain investing is because companies want to use them in their marketing. The more searches for that term the more valuable it becomes.

But businesses also search for keywords for their own consumption. Businesses are their own kind of consumer, as it goes...

Great post. Thanks for sharing.Completely agree ,only thing that matters is sales.Everything else is just fluff. Also agree on the aesthetics - I think XR does have 'sex appeal' and is worth investing in ,but people shouldn't get too carried away, especially hand regging at this stage

If XR does become a consumer term, XR Reality, Elad, NamePov and a few others here are in for a lot of money, but if it doesn't, I'm sure they will sleep well at night knowing that they at least gave it a reasonable shot....especially if they makes their money back with a single domain sale.

I'm discussing with two potential buyers (*end users*) for a single XR domain.

All this other shit doesn't matter... I'm done debating (y)
