100% agree that these headsets/techs got a long way to go and that these are not really a showcase of what mixed reality will be capable of in the future.
Was just pointing it out because a few in this thread have said they were waiting to see if anyone would brand their hardware with the "MR abreviation" and as far as I am aware ASUS could very well be the first ones to do so.
I think it's an important step because for the abbreviation of MR to be associated with Mixed Reality, companies/Manufacturers havn't got to be afraid of using it so its good to see ASUS having the confidence to do so.
So basically looking at that headset I would as a consumer have no problem in identifying we have the "ASUS MR" headset which is compatible with "Windows Mixed Reality". And I would also quickly understand that the MR at the end of the word ASUS must be the abbreviation of mixed reality
I know Elad posted a news article about these headsets. I just couldn't remember seeing him point out the "MR" abbreviation branding, which I personally thought was something worth highlighting.
I think the funny thing about this thread is anything containing the keyword AR & VR everyone likes. But when someone posts any useful info on MR it gets no love at all
I think it's best to have an open mind personally. Some of the people who were hating AR last year and saying people are wasting their money are now falling in love with it
