.tv Hollywood.tv and Demand Media - Another great move.

So there I was checking out what my wife was telling me.

On http://perezhilton.com/

And I see a story about Britney Spears. Naturally.

But WAIT, the video was from Hollywood.tv and had their logo on it, and I was thinking "Woo-hoo, this is nice" until I saw the watermark at the bottom.

Myspacetv.com.

Now why in the world is Demand media doing this? Eat the friggin bandwidth costs, and put a "me.tv" watermark on his videos and host the friggin things for him. Talk about wasting free publicity.

you can never uderstand fully what in the world businesses are thinking until you see some really stupid stuff that other companies do- so i never put anything past any of them-

but, my guess is richards hands are tied- hollywood.tv, to me, was in the drivers seat- demand has that little link at the bottom of his site now saying this site was made at me.tv- get your site too- that is probably all they wanted, or could get- that little link on a high profile site would normally cost nice dollars for regular advertising if you think about it- so instead of demand paying ad dollars to him, they got him to move to them, and they get the link for free- but thats probably about it- i am sure hollywood gets something, somewhere even if it is not evident-

First off, I think it is horrible that Britney has to endure all the flash photography.

But seriously, EQ is right I see both sides here, but in the end Hollywood.tv would never want to sign an agreement to require Hollywood.tv to put another brands watermark on Hollywood.tv intellectual property. What allthings is saying is that by being required to put another watermark on the Hollywood.tv video, this would in reality devalue the domain Hollywood.tv which needs to protect itself and domain integrity.

Yes Me.TV should be trying to cross promote in these ways, but again, as long as Hollywood.tv is a site that is using the .tv extension, the promotion of .tv does come back around to me.tv in indirect ways.

As far as myspacetv.com goes, that is just one site to put video on, and it is a huge market, so of course Hollywood.tv would want to leverage it and any other video sharing site.
