Hillary Clinton Not Dropping Out Because...

Hillary Clinton apparently isn't dropping out because she fears Obama might be assassinated ala RFK:

Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.

Could be there's a little wishful thinking on her part?

As one commenter said, I don't think he'll be assassinated pre-election.. but if he's elected, he better ride with the top up. I'm just sayin'.

I would say wishful thinking too. I really, really doubt that obama would be. He's pretty popular, more popular than other people that have been in office.

It's a pretty sad quote.

Jeeeze. Candidates need to understand one simple precept that always, always, always seems to evade them: Shut up and think before you speak.

that sound more like she's gonna to do smth to Obama...

anyway, i think she lack thoughts in your speech. she's more of using the charm of her family name than her actual political talent.

this is a reason why she shouldn't be vp....

there might be a few 'accidents' at the white house.

imo, she's a power hungry shark

I think that's the perception most people have.. and that's she's untrustworthy.

I hope Obama won't be assasinated.

But again, lets take a look at history of all the good and popular guys who were:

Lincoln
John F. Kennedy
Rober F. Kennedy
John Lennon
Martin L. King Jr.
Ronald Reagen
Pope
Ghandi
Malcolm X

The list keeps on going.... but those are the major players.

btw, im all for obama lol, (not that I hate hillary as some others do).

:)

I was never very fond of Hillary, but I used to think she was a good politician ... for her own sake, not necessarily the country, that is.
Out of desperation however, she started behaving rather erratically and some of most recent speeches began to show her true colors: a terrible negotiator completely detached from reality and a tactless individual thoughtlessly aggressive in her statements (especially those involving internationaly affairs), who has the potential to make the US look even worse in the eyes of the rest world.
On top of it all, her clapping is very annoying as well, especially in conjuction with that fake smile.

Personally, I think she's feels the Presidency is her payoff for supporting and staying with Bill.. if she'd left him, I don't think she'd have nearly the clout or impact she has today.

From the point of view of a non American I am amazed at how the media is so anti-Clinton. Obama may have nice speeches, but does he have good policies? What amazes me even more is that the media doesn't seem worried about the main issues, like the economy, social security etc. All they are looking for and talk about for days on end is about reverend Wright, pastor You know Who, Mc'Cains health, now it's about the Kennedy assassinatin, or that the other guy was a mormon, etc. etc.

Seems like this presidential race is totally controlled by the media who don't give a damn about the issues. All they are interested in is audiences.

I have a feeling the the US is gonna choose the wrong president again (after Bush)

Well, it makes sense because issues don't sell papers or tv advertising, it's fueled by gossip and controversy and the media will spin the stories to sell papers. People usually don't care about issues unless they affect them directly.

That said, I sometimes think charisma and such can "sometimes" be just as important as a stance on issues.. we need someone to bring us together, not divide us.

I think the whole thing is a ploy,I think Obama will choose Clinton as his running mate, so the more publicity the better, for the Demo party.

I don't think it is a ploy, however, I've always said that this would be the sure way to reunite the party and initiate the "let's bring the Nation together" process... Hopefully they take advice from this forum :)

What a shame that people don't care about issues, I mean its their future thats at stake, not to mention the importance and influence that a good US President can have for the rest of the world.

It's as if people have been influenced and to a certain degree brainwashed by the media. Although Bush had some good things, on the whole he has been a disaster. Al Gore would have been so much better.

Could we be seeing some more of the same with Mc'Cain winning? I hope not. I would prefer to see the Democrats win. So far from the little I know about their policies I would prefer Clinton, although Obama would probably be better on Foreign Policy.

Lets wait and guess what their policies will be once they get elected.
