The .vg ccTLD that can obviously mean anything from Virgin Islands to Video Game to Vegas seems to have some fans out there EE.vg just sold on eBay for $300 would that be an indicator that its a good time to toss the 2-character .vg(s) on the market or would waiting until the end of the year pay off....

anyone have an opinion on that?

I think it's no different than exotic TLDs like .io .la etc
Of course some sale will take place here and there, arousing interest from domainers. But unless you are lucky or find a fitting name most domains are probably worth very little. At least if you are looking to sell them. $300 is not a ground-breaking sale either.
