Yes, if you win the auction. You pay what it ends at plus the full renewal fee to add a year to the expiration date. I have never had a coupon that worked for an auction renewal (even when GoDaddy had renewal coupons).

Are they not supposed to actually add that year of renewal to the domain? Bought a domain this October, paid and transfered also payed renwal fee but it do expire next August.

Depends on if this is an expiring auction or someone else's auction. By the context, I can tell this was not an expiring auction, which is why you had to transfer it. Although by transferring it, you're still renewing it for a year.

Shouldn't have to pay for both a transfer and a year, they go hand in hand.

A GD rep insisted that payments must be paid immediately or my account would be suspended for fraud. I don't think employee's read their own TOS. So, 7 days and notification of refund, which is another 7 days. 14 they are almost always constantly holding at least above mid $$$; which runs through my billing cycle, and I pay interest on a name I don't own while my money is in their account collecting interest.

Be prepared for people renewing names and never post that it's acquired, until it's in your account. (Other people would congratulate you, possibly tipping off the owner and make them rethink the nominal fee that must be paid to get it back.)

This recently happened to me :-o:(:guilty::-/:'(:|:alien2::)

There are good reasons for Go Daddy to hold the domain for a few days, especially for a public auction (one listed by me or you and NOT an expiring domain):

To make certain that the payment clears.

As a seller, I am glad to wait; I would not want to lose both the domain and the money.

As a buyer, you need to be patient. Go Daddy will NOT rip you off. If the sale goes south, you will receive a full refund.
