Hi There,
I have purchased a domain name, and am in desperate need of direction as to this simple task?
I am getting the site profeshionally done up, however in the mean time I need to have a "site in progress" script at the front page of my website.
I have done this (using dreamweaver) however I was wondering if someone could help me with where to copy this file on my computer to the actual control panel on my web host? (blue host)???

Many thanks,

Rich

There should be a folder called "public_html". You need to put your "index.html" file into this folder. The "index.html" file is not a script. It is a web page.

If you are using dreamweaver, dreamweaver can make it easier to upload the files. Dreamweaver has build in ftp feature. This means you can just click a button and Dreamweaver will upload the file for you.

1. First create a folder in your computer. Call it whatever you like but it is better to name it the same as your website name. Lets say your domain is richy.com. Name this folder "richy". This will be your local website folder.
2. Put your index.html file inside the richy folder.
3. Inside richy create a new folder and call it "images". This will be your images folder.
4. open dreamweaver and on top click site>new site.
5. On the screen that appears switch to advanced tab. On that screen do the following:
a. give the site any name like richy
b. as local root folder chose the richy folder you just created
c. As your default images folder select the images folder you just created.
You have now completed the "local info" section. On the left of this window under "local info" select "remote info".
Here chose these:
access: FTP
FTP host: ftp.richy.com
Host directory: www
login: your hosting username
password: your hosting password

The login and password you enter here is the one that was send to you in your welcome email by bluehost. This is also the same login that you use to access cpanel.

When you are viewing any file in Dreamweaver that is in your local website folder you will see a panel on the right side that says "files". On the files panel select any file (for instance the index.html file) and click the arrow that's pointing upwards. You file will be uploaded.

You can also use (top menu) "site>synchronize sitewide"

I hope this helps
