Hi There,
I have purchased a domain name, and am in desperate need of direction as to this simple task?
I am getting the site profeshionally done up, however in the mean time I need to have a "site in progress" script at the front page of my website.
I have done this (using dreamweaver) however I was wondering if someone could help me with where to copy this file on my computer to the actual control panel on my web host? (blue host)???

Many thanks,

Rich

Download an FTP program - FileZilla comes highly recommended.

Then add a new site. For:

"Host" enter: ftp.[yourdomain.ext]

"Port" enter: 21

"Logontype" enter: Normal

"User" enter: [your login username]

"Pass" enter: [your login password]

Hit connect and you will connect to your hosting space.

Then double click on "public_html" (this is the folder which is accessible by the public)

Upload the file to this directory.

Have replied to your PM :)

With bluehost.com, their website says you have a Account "Control Panel". That's not specific, although if it's cPanel (and it'd be similar on other control panels), login and go to "File Manager"

Once in, go to "public_html" (if you aren't already), then click on "Upload" and upload the file that way.

This method won't work if you aren't given cPanel, I can't see what they offer from a brief look at their website :)
