Apologies if I have posted this on the wrong board - please move if this is the case.

I use domain names to support me in various research projects and legal disputes. I am currently investigating some historic monuments artefacts, paths and roads. For various reasons that are outside the scope of this post, I want to start the name with the letters "MP", and I am looking for a recognised abbreviation for these letters. The best one I can find is "Monumentum Posuit", which is Latin for "erected this monument", and it is often used as an inscription on ancient monuments. Often in the extended form of "Hoc monumentum posuit", which id of no use to me.

Now for the questions.

- Do any of you guys use domain names for this purpose?
- Do you think that the use of Latin is a bit pretentious, even though it is related to ancient monuments?
- Should I include a translation and explanation on the index/place holder page?

You might still have problems with the Trade Marks Act (1994), although I can't see if MP is restricted in the same way that 'Royal' is.

I son't think there is a trade mark issue, as there seems to be over 100 possible meanings, but thanks for the suggestion. I think my greatest risk is being considered a pompous pratt, but the fact that the domain is related to ancient maps may be a saving grace. :)
